Cracked Tranny Housing
(Preview)
I didn't expect to find this when I pulled the engine and tranny today. You can see the hairline fracture just above my finger nail scratch in the middle. -- Edited by 4-door Chevelle on Sunday 6th of March 2011 09:59:51 PM

Project put on hold for a little bit-working overtime
(Preview)
One of the guys I work with shot himself in the career last week. He was working 2 jobs for us as partsman/storeroom person and 2nd one as a building maintenance person which paid a little more (was for his dad), so he asked for a promotion to full counterman about 2 months ago. They OK'd it and said they wo...

Exhaust Cutouts
(Preview)
Call me crazy (again) but I want to put cutouts on my new Chevelle. Why don't they make it so it just bolts right up to the 3" header collector? They are all weld or slip on for some reason. Anyway, It makes sense to me to get the 3" version since I am seeking as much air flow as possible. I think I ma...

There was a small delay in that the right rear quarter could not be saved so I had to get new sheet metal quick! Working on the engine and the parts restorations... And now to the Man Cav...

1/4 glass roller removal/install
(Preview)
how does a lower 1/4 glass roller come off? I see it's threaded but the darn stud piece broke off after 2 twists. It has 2 larger washer type "insulators" sammiching the glass, one looks like it might be a spanning nut type, is that right?

bear with my typing, I have a bout 1/2 a bottle of Appleton Estate in me.... POR-15 is done. Ran out, had to make a trip to Welle Auto to get more. Sampler pack is $19.99 and enough to do what I needed plus plenty for the trunk I suspect. I also cleaned all the interior panles except the seats using my favorite...

camshaft question
(Preview)
First I would like to say hi to everyone, I just joined the club a couple weeks ago. I've got a 67SS that I have owned for 36 years, but my question is on a Pontiac 400. I'm changing the .488 lift Summit cam for a.542 lift Lunati. Both cams were laying on the bench and I thought something didn't look right....

Adding a console
(Preview)
So, I am considering adding a console to my car. I may make one out of wood like I did 33 years ago in my first Chevelle that had 12 switches, 9 lights, cassette tape slots, B&M Star Shifter and room for junk. However ... I may be more conservative this time with just a few switches and indicator lights a...

So my new '72 has stereo speaker holes in the dash (AC car). Thus far I have read they are 3.5" or they could be 4x6 (I don't have access to the car right now). I want to get some decent replacement speakers for these. I don't want to cut up the rear to put 6x9's in this car but I will be putting a decent am...

(Preview)
Looking for gm 3767556 which is the packing material that goes between the exhaust manifold and the extension that slides into the head pipe as the connection point . There was no water shield. This is also the side with the small rust hole at the rocker panel and bubbles on t...

Does this Muncie Tail Housing need Repair?

Is this normal? Rebuilt by George Hammer in 05, didn't say anything and I didn't notice until this winter. Guess who found another build sheet.....
(Preview)
Under the driver's seat, under the carpet, under the tarpaper. Upper right corner reads: 1H57H2R605253. Gues mine's a Monte Carlibu. It's for a 72 Monte that was yelloow with a tan vinyl top. Intersting. It was 153 ahead mine on the line, which I think is odd to somehow get back into a car.
