Hey Cindy, that looks really nice now. Tim must have pulled out all the stops and you got the "Super Buff and Shine Special"!

That engine compartment looks great now and he must have worked that little kid to death on your car. Did the same to my kids as well and that kid will remember it for years to come.

Yea he really stepped up after I told him Maaco was running a "presidential" special!

The kid just decided to start helping! I think he likes me - one day I was out there he took 10 minutes to "line up" all of his possessions for me - two lawn mowers - couple of bikes, pedal car etc! smile

DARREN I am pretty sure Tim replaced the chrome on the wheel wells. The chrome and the detail strips down the sides were part of the car and on the build sheet. He could not find the detail strips and I know that isn't what they are called but...Tim will surely reply with more accurate info!

I am proud to say Vert is stock as when he rolled off the assembly line, I am second owner and know that the trunk color and accessories have not been touched or changed! The 350 engine and tranny is matching year - not original.

You must have flipped him off too. Some guys see a blonde do that and they think it's an invitation...biggrin

Of course he likes you, who can pass up a blonde in a convertible!

The side molding is a hard part to come by, I was unable to find anyone who makes them new.  The wheel moldings we got from NPD.

I have been a cars apart person so darn long I can't remember what it is like to have a running car of my own.

 That little guy is going to be a heartbreaker!  He had my wife and 'strawberry blonde' daughter running all over the back yard last summer.  They had a blast watching him while Tim helped me in the man cave.

That little guy gets around.  Tim, you're going to have to keep an eye on him!  wink

I am dropping the car off tomorrow. No mouldings of any sort will be left and all mounts/holes fixed. I lean towards the '72 Caddy Ice Blue Firemist paint code 90. I am having my extra functional cowl hood done as well but in the cool satin/flat black you see on a lot of 50's style hot rods. I may also black out the wheels.

Forget the black wheels. I may even do something different with the hood but it will have to be a surprise.

Is there any additional info about the paint code for a 1972 Cadillac Ice Blue Firemist?

Code = 90
GM Code = WA4246
Ditzler PPG = 2456
Dupont = 5448L, 5448A

I did see the car last Sunday and there was more rust than I thought but the guy was neither surprised nor effected by it and had all the welding and metal work already done. He hoped to have it in paint within a week depending on his work schedule. He is taking pictures along the way for me so that is cool. My goal is to have it on the road by mid-April ... I have a LOT of work to do!!!

I think he is still spraying. It looked good when I saw it yesterday and I like the color you choose.
