Camaro...Not Chevelle.  But hey a car is a car.  A project a project.

Camaro has been at the body shop almost a week now.  There was a small delay in that the right rear quarter could not be saved so I had to get new sheet metal quick!  Working on the engine and the parts restorations...

Updates My 70 Project

Well slowly but shirly...

The car has been poly primed.  Basically it is a really thick pimer that allows them to block it to glass.  Should be going to paint monday.  I did decide on the color...Scroll to the end to see.  Have the motor together and ready to go....

I had some major issues.  Turns out the rotor was missing so we had no spark.  That was a fun find.  Then we started it up and oil began leaking like crazy around the oil filter.  We disasembled the housing and oil filter about 4 times.  Then we discovered the previous owner I think tried to remove the oil filter housing with a screw driver and cracked the aluminum housing.  Luckily the Dyno I was at had a machine/mechanic shop next store and he had one...Lucky me.  Got it all buttoned up.

I used manifolds during the test because that is what I am using.  I was happy with the end result.  A very streetable and reliable 375H.P. and 410 Trq.

Went and saw the car at the shop to approve the sample paint panel and to check out the work.  Very happy.  I was shocked how thick the poly prime was.

Got the 4 speed all hooked up and got it ready to be implanted.  Still have some more detailing to do though.

Finished up the grill below.  Just got to buff the chrome.

Still have lots of parts above ready to go and now am waiting on the roller...

Musclecar on PowerblockTV just started a new project on a 70 Camaro this weekend. They decided on the original color of thier car which is lime green. But they are adding black stripes. The rendering looked pretty cool they showed. But that orange is an excellent choice. No doubt will look sharp when its finished.

Looks nice. The poly stuff is a really nice product to have since it sprays on and like you said, can be sanded down to smooth since even factory panels aren't perfect.

The reason the oil filter leaked is when you put it on your engine stand the bolt was to long and go"s all the way into the filter area and cracks the housing, How I no is when the first time I rotated the engine on the stand I have I seen the bolt was hitting the housing, Thats why there was a new adapter on it. I also told you I stoled the rotor for the 502 I installed in my old chevelle I sold to the other guy because I broke his.

Steve that makes sense...we figured since that guy I bought the engine from, not you the builder, didn't have technical ability and bought that 502 he messed with it...but what your saying now makes perfect sense and i will have to check it. Totally forgot about the rotor!!!
