Un-Gunking a plugged heater core
(Preview)
I don't know if this has been done before, but it seems to have worked. I had VW bug level heat coming out of the "Green Mary". A "hold the inlet, compare to the outlet hose" test confirmed that the core was plugged up/blocked - scorching hot in, luke warm out. Changing the heater core on a '94 to '96 B-body i...

New wheels
(Preview)
It's not that I don't like what I have already on the car, but I've been looking for a little while. I liked the stlye on Scott's car a lot until he said they're discontinued. Even looking around at Car Craft, everyone has some sort of Rally or 5 spoke wheel. Searching on Craigslist, I saw some C3 Vette whee...

My RS 500 has arrived, yuppie, a fifth gear .67 overdrive no more cruising at 2800-3000 RPM. Pulled the M22 during the Vikings game Sunday and installed the RS 500 Monday afternoon, only modification required so far, I had to elongate the bolt holes on the cross member mount pad 3/8 of an inch moving the...

Great Article and Photo's for anyone thinking about putting on a Vinyl top
(Preview)
This is for a 66-67; but well worth it for any vinyl top installation. It appears that it is not necessary to remove the windshields. If so, that would make things easier. Kind of indicates one of the difficult things is to remove the drip rail moldings and re-install them. More photo's in his photob...

Taking a little break () from putting the cars away for the season. How can we accumulate so much crap? It seems like we are cleaning the garage, but inreality we are just moving the crap around.

Looking for a 295/60R15 tire-even a junk one just for test-fitting

anyone? OK, also if anyone has a 8.5"-10" wheel with enough backspacing to tuck a tire up into the wheelwell. Also just need for mocking. With tire would be cool, but not necessary.

My carb issue...
(Preview)
Some of you know about the issues I had at Rock Falls last Sunday. Today I installed the new fuel line with pressure gauge and turned the key on expecting to see sky high pressure. The gauge went to 2 lbs and stayed there and soon after, raw gas was pouring down the intake and on the outside. I was so disgust...

My 66 "renovation" project

(Preview)
Thought I'd start a thread on all the work my 66 needs. I had hoped to just do any necessary brake/suspension/steering work it may need to be safe on the road and then drive it for a few years but it is a major case of "ghetto engineering". I did drive it 12 miles when it first got here and decided I...

Oil leak, need suggestions?
(Preview)
Ok guys, need some ideas. Within the last 600 miles on the 396 I have developed a small very iritating oil leak. It is on the passenger side of the motor and appears to be near the fuel pump. After a 10 mile or more drive, I will find a light film on the bottom of the fuel pump, front of lower control arm, center...

I'd like to take out the trailer hitch receiver from the attachment on my truck, but... it's rusted in. Any ideas on how to get it out other than a BFH or a welding torch? See attached pic. LS1 383 build

I've finally gotten some pictures of my build together. Back in Jan of 2009 I got a “good deal” on an LS1/4L60E pullout from down by Lincoln Nebraska. After I got it home I found my good deal had been in a hard front end collision which crushed the oil pump and bent the crank. Since I needed a new crank I decid...

Better than Jack Stand or Block for $15

I made 8 of these at a cost of $15. Two under the Front or Rear wheels give me all the saftey and clearance I want. Two under the frame behind front wheel or in front or rear wheels works great. -- Edited by jim larson on Thursday 15th of September 2011 04:27:41 PM
