He didn't support the pump correctly.angry  On second try with pump allready cracked and supported properly he did mangage to get the shaft and cast propeller out.  So I have that and the correct propeller, backplate, and nuts for a 66 bb.

Oh well, looks like I can get a rebuilt one for around $250 and I won't have to spend the time and buy a repair kit for $100.

Jim. Just some constructive criticism. But if your car isnt really a numbers matching car, I wouldnt bother with an expensive #s correct water pump thats over 5 times the cost of a good replacement.

WOW, I'd be pi$$ed. He is going to buy you another correctly date coded 66 pump, right? Sounds like a case for peoples court.

I disagree... Jim seems to enjoy making things "correct" so I'd say "make it correct" or you'll never be happy with it, and it'll cost more to do the job twice.

"Saving Money" has cost me a LOT over the years.

He  has punch out 100's of pumps.  His 20 ton press did the trick.   I can probably find one to rebuild for under $100, so thats all  it's is worth.  And and the cast iron impeller has some value, since its suppose to be so much better than those steel impellers.  Plus it has the correct back plate for the short BB water pump and the correct hub instead of those with 8 holes.  And sometimes you run into a good deal.

Yea thats true. I have a 66 pump for my 66 but I took it off and put a high flow Stewart pump. It is kind of a cool feeling to have the correct stuff even if its not matching.

That said though. Now your out a 250 dollar rebuild now. Which does make a good arguement for putting on a good quality pump and not worrying about the numbers on the pump.

It was the correct date and casting number for my car.  Matching Numbers means many different things to different people.  The only thing that can be somewhat verified as original to the car is well Nothing, unless you have a bunch of documentation in addition to the POP . POP's are being reproduced, along with engine pad stamping with the correct fonts, etc. Probably less than 5% of the matching # cars are actually matching # cars.
