How to: reseal vent window

I already re-sealed the left side without taking any pics so I documented the right side as I did it tonight. This really isn't hard, just takes some time and patience. I bought Metro Moulded seals and they fit very well. The only thing that isn't an exact match is the large rubber seal at the front doesn't have a metal reinforcement inside or the clips attached.

Here is the window ready to be disassembled.

Start by removing these 2 screws. I put the driver in and smack it good a couple times to loosen the bond.

Then the screw at the top of the glass run channel.

You can now pry the front frame off. There are 4 clips that lock the seal into the frame.

Next is the vent glass mount. I soaked this good with Deep Creep yesterday so it would come apart without breaking the stud. You need to pry the lock tab out to remove the nut.

Notice the 2 flat sides of the stud. There are 2 pieces in the assembly with slots instead of holes. Pay close attention to the order they come off. It is important to get them back on correctly. I lay them out in order on a clean towel.

Be certain to get the top piece back on with the flat side correctly oriented. It is the stop washer to limit the travel of the window.

Now you can remove the main seal. It slides in a channel and has a heal at the back that needs to be pulled up to allow the seal to slide forward.

The glass run channel felt just pulls right out.

Last is the vertical glass seal.

You access the lock tabs in the glass run channel.

Just pry them up with a screw driver.

Tomorrow I will post the reassembly. It is just a reverse of the disassembly but there are a few tips I cna offer to help with that. Here is my window ready to install.

Nice discussion.  Fortunately I only had to install new weatherstripping in the glass channel run.
