70's and 80's style cars
(Preview)
I don't usually pick up Muscle Car Review, but saw it at Barnes and Noble the other night and the cover story is 70's/80's street freak cars. I thought it was pretty cool as it is the style I am going with my car, although not to an extreme. It featured three cars, a 71 cuda with the custom 70's paint, a 66 chev...

Anyone have a GM tranny front pump puller?
(Preview)
I have to replace the stator support on my 200-4r so off goes the pump. I have heard you can remove them from the back with a brass punch and hammer, but the aluminum is very soft and the holes are at a hard angle, want to air on the safe side. Usually buddies of mine have all of the odds and ends tools, but no...

What oil do you use and where do you buy it?
(Preview)
So I've read a ton of stuff on TC regarding oils and ZDDP and all of that's great info. But... what do you use and where do you buy it? I'm trying to find something local that I don't have to order online. So far, Valvoline VR-1 petroleum 20W50 racing oil looks like the only thing easily accessible that ha...

I got to feel and play with one first hand and felt how nice it turned. You can adjust the tension on it so it will turn as easy or as hard as you want it. A little expensive but seems well worth it. Check out the web site. http://www.cmproductsstands.com/

Stock rockers vs. roller rockers?
(Preview)
The 402 I'm working on has aluminum roller and roller tip rockers. I read in a How To book that for big blocks, roller rockers aren't really recommended because they don't allow as much oil flow to the pushrod. I'm considering putting stock stamped rockers in for a few reasons: 1. Reliability and repa...

Did I make a mistake on re-installing Timing sprocket and Chain? And do these #'s on the cam tell anything?

Didn't read the books first, so I didn't line up the dots on the sprockets when I removed the timing chain. Is there something to do to make sure it is back together correctly? Also, I now think the cam may not be original. Do the numbers on the front of the cam mean anything? I didn't pull it out all the wa...

I'm prepping for setting the valves when the heads are done (been awhile since I've done this), and found this post on TC.
