So is goes, was looking at Stan's Heavy Chevy and realized the grill on his is the look I want. no SS or Bow Tie.
Ordered the trim even though it is non-functional and the money could be going towards other things.
Soo... as long as I'm at it, found a super deal on the lenses so ordered them too.

Lots of opinions on what the "standard 1971 HC" front trim was, thinking about painting my head light rings as in the 3rd pic.

Glad I'm a bad influence Bruce!  laughing

I decided to black out the centers of the headlight rings too.

I prefer the middle picture... black grille, with trim, and chrome bezels.

Good deal that he "saved" it. Not many places left that can do that work.

True, it took a little while to get it done, but much faster than some "Paint Jails" we all have heard tales about

Got the trim on the grill and new side light lenses mounted. That's it for now (until I break down and buy the chrome rings and side trim, since they now look shabbier)

As everyone knows, the front end of a 71 is my favorite so it looks great to me!

And yes, I ran into the same issue of blending survivor quality and new looking parts when I did the '72 vert resto.  I ended up replacing the original stuff more than I thought I would because next to the new stuff it didn't look right.   clonk

Since the side trim was much worse than the rings, and cost less, they are now on order and one more time "okay but that's it for this winter"rolleyes

Why do you bother telling yourself that ??? We all know there will be more...laughing

Glad to know the current Segment is completed, till the next adventure.tiphat

Permanent membership in the CAC is often maintained by "Multiple Parallel Projects" (MPP)

Many of us should just laminate our membership cards.dunno

The other is 'Car Flipping"
Also known as "I need a different challenge"cenuniv

It has been said before that many of us have a somewhat short attention span, thus MPP.clonk

There is no cure, nor is one needed.thumbsup

Just keep playing!
Why would we want to leave the playground?

Karl

P.S. Our projects are never done, just "paused" on occasion.beers

Perhaps I should have been more specific "the 71 is officially out of the CAC", but shortly, the 59 Nomad will be swapping parking spots and going into the shop for some work
Also the plan is now to get the parts bike, Honda CT200 built in to a off roader for the Grandkids (and me) to ride at the cabin.

Yep, my current guideline is to have one old car that can be driven, during the warm months.
Already starting to plan for next winters work, and for this summers trips!

Looks good Bruce!

Now you still have 10 days to grab some leftover already paid for red paint from the car and paint the area between the two side marker lenses like they did in the factory.  stirpot  razz

Or, perhaps, use the red to add the stripes on the hood and trunk lid, or are they there already??

Possible those places that do "Wraps" could come a with a tape color that is close?
Don't paint the chrome, tape it.

Or find a red tape off the shelf at Fleet Farm or Ace Hardware?

Not as permanent.

beers

You're referring to the fuel gage sending unit, right?  If so, make sure that the new unit's rod angle matches the old one, and bend it if you need to, or your gage will read 3/4 when it's full. Don't ask me how I know. Lol

Ohms should be 90. Does the replacement state the ohms ? Or that it is for original replacement ?

Wish I had known you needed one, I have one here...dunno
