Gas fumes from the separator Ay

Wondering if any of you have had issues with "gas fumes" from the rear of the car on a 71 or 72 with the vapor canister removed and found a way to eliminate the issue?

I have bypassed mine. I plugged the corresponding outlets in the tank.

You might need a vented cap.

I hooked the tank vent to a fuel filter mounted up high in the rear axle area.

Do you get the fumes with the top down only?

 Yep, you need to plug the extra nipples on the tank and then use an ANTI-SURGE gas cap. They are still vented but have a spring loaded valve that closes off when liquid contacts it.

Did you do it at the tank, where they come out of the tank?

Yes, just use a short piece of hose and a suitable plug and clamp.
1970 Chevelle, 1969 Camaro, even full size GM pre canister era.
I usually check NAPA first.

 Cheryl has a very keen sense of smell; she notices intermittently it as we drive.

I can smell it a little after we park it in the garage after a long drive.

For the moment i capped off the open line that runs up to the engine bay for the canister.

It currently does have a vented cap now, not sure if it is "Anti-surge".

Will cap the 3 lines at the tank at some point.
