We have been making some more progress on Cale's 55. Passenger side of the car is on its last 180 blocking and will be ready for wet-sand and paint very soon.

Cale filled and blocked the driver's side and took that as far as his skill-level could take it. I will be moving on to that side pretty soon, with a little help from a local buddy who does body work to speed the process along.

Monday night we fired up his 406 with the Corvette dual-quad. We're running only off the rear carb and don't have fuel to the front one yet, waiting for some fittings. The engine sounds good, has oil pressure, and no major leaks, so we'll we'll worry about tuning after it's in the car.

This engine was built for a street rod, then the owner died and I bought out all the parts in his garage. I don't really know much about it, but it is supposed to be fresh. It should be a good mild engine with decent torque and just enough power to have a little fun but not get in too much trouble with...

Thanks for posting those updates! Great to see and envious of your skills as you transfer those to Cale. Great bonding experience and what a proud accomplishment!

Not this year, but next year he's a Senior.

I want to have it painted this spring/summer. Then he'll have all next fall and winter to assemble the car and be able to drive it before he graduates.

The body work I learned from my Dad when I was Cale's age, but some of the mechanical stuff I'm learning as we go here too.

Cale is good with the hands-on mechanical stuff, but needs my help quite a bit with any trouble-shooting, which comes with experience.

On the body work, his skills are pretty limited (as were mine at that age) so I have him do a lot of my maintenance and repair work on the other cars which gives me more time to work on the body of his car. He did struts on the G8, a fuel pump on the truck, springs/shocks/sway-bars on the Trans-Am, and oil changes on all of them. He's going to pull the rear axle out of my Chevelle this week so I can repair a control arm bracket... there's no shortage of stuff to work on here. hyper

We made another big step forward on Cale's 55.
Driver's side is in its first coat of high build primer.

I hope to get it blocked again this week while Cale works on finishing the inside of the trunk... autocross season is starting soon, so progress may slow down a bit over the summer.

Nice progress

Eventual work session potential? Maybe for September? Maybe for another project aspect.

Potentially could install trim and glass as a work meeting after it's painted.

Maybe dash/heater stuff as well... I'm hoping Karl has some spares in case we're missing anything.
