I would not use rust remover on cast iron. I think they may flash rust.
Get them blasted. As soon as there blasted take them directly home from the blaster, don’t let them get wet heat them to remove all moisture. As soon as they cool paint them with your choice of high temp paint.

You want to get aggressive when blasting cast iron because of its course texture. Other media will work, just takes extra effort and time, ask your blaster. Sand works well, it will be reasonably dry or it will plug the blasting gun. After blasting set them in an oven to dry them out, paint a soon as they cool to room temp. That is what I did with my Elky, five years later they looked like the day I did them.
I would not blast hardware that has been plated unless your going to replate it.

 I used Race Coatings in Forest Lake for the headers and intake on the 442, and was very pleased. Took a few weeks to get them back though. They're pretty busy.

 A stainless steel header company from Burnsville relocated here in lake city about 1 1/2 years ago.  They are going to blast and ceramic coat for $150.  Dropped them off this morning.
