As an update to the interior color, after talking with the guy in Virginia, who has had several concours level restored cars at MCACN and other top level shows, I took it to him last March 2nd to get the interior re-painted the Dark Fawn, among a list of other projects, completed.

We agreed for him to have much of the list done around the first of May. As of that time, I hadn't heard a word from him and asked how it was coming along, and was informed he had other "things" come up and hadn't had time to work on it.

I texted him the last week of JUNE and informed him that I would be down the first week of July to bring it home and he, then, insisted he would get the interior painted. Well, he did, but hurriedly, poorly and with no flattener for the 60% gloss.

When I walked in his building and saw the car, I almost walked out and left without it. To say I am, yet AGAIN,  disappointed is a major understatement. I'd seen his work and expected much better from him. When I dropped the car off, I never asked about cost or set a limit, I just wanted it done RIGHT. He expressed regret that he hadn't gotten more done, as we had agreed, and wouldn't take any payment, which I appreciated, but I still have $1,200 invested in this episode from renting the enclosed trailer to take it down in and tolls/gas/meals.

I know many people think I am the most picky, perfectionist around but I can't assemble this car and sit in the seat and see the sand scratches under the paint on the A pillar and have the gloss paint glaring in my eyes. It was a bitter 26 hour drive home and when I got here, I unloaded it and put it in the back building and haven't had time to look at it since. I have too many fires burning with getting my front pole building modified for an overhead door, insulated and heated before winter to take time to deal with this car anymore.

Thanks Jon, at this point, it will most likely sit until I have time to deal with it and, probably sand and paint the interior myself. THAT is the goal with the "new" shop upgrades...to have a curtained area to paint myself. Then I'll have no one to blame for poor quality but myself...thumbsup

I "hear" your surgery went well and you are overdoing tasks already...razz Good to know you are one of the positive outcomes from that type of medical procedure.

Will a scuff and shoot with flat clear solve it, or does it need more than that?

Unfortunately, it needs to be sanded to remove the visible sanding scratches in it now and re-coated. There is also a dent in the left rear quarter reveal that he was supposed to address and didn't. Can't see going any further with that area until the dent is removed, filled either.

There are some glaring imperfections on the top of the dash too, but I need to determine if they are covered by the pad, or visible, to decide if they need to be sanded out.
