Well today was to nice to wait any longer.  I checked the carb and both bowls were dry. I disconnected the coil and turn the engine over for about 25 sec to pump the gas up and get the oil pressure up to operating pressure.  I waited about 1/2 of a hour, pumped the accelerator one time, turned the key and the car started in one revolution.  After the engine was up to operation temp and coolant flowing

turned heat on high.  Then turned on the AC that Bob helped me install last fall.  AC seemed to operate as it did last fall.  beers

Now waiting for the snow to disappear and a good rain.

So, close yesterday.  I had the lift down yesterday and the battery was connected. All I had to do was install the fuse for the electric fuel pump and turn the key.

I had mine out Saturday and Sunday, albeit only to move it around from side to side in the shop. DANG that thing sounds sweet and I want to drive it this year.

I have the '38 and '62 Impala in storage, south of Hastings, and I will be retrieving them on April 27th.

You do any detective work on the leak, now that you've run it ?

I add the leak detector to the oil before start up. I plan to craw under the car and look better today/tonight.  Is it possible for a little oil to leak from the spark plug or into the bolt hole in the head that a manifold bolt goes in?  Are you suppose to be in a dark room when looking for the leak detector?

Mine has never been in storage, but I am real close to starting it and backing it outside for the first time since 1998.

Eager... Opened the garage door to get myself excited... then closed again as I was off to snowboard with the daughter. But SOON!

I need to pick up a new battery. I typically can get them at near commercial pricing from Factory Motor Parts in Golden Valley. Not that I buy too many batteries... but I got a guy  Imgonna Hah!

Tightened up the exhaust on the 64, connected the battery, let the fuel pump prime and the engine came to life within seconds of turning the key...gotta love fuel injection.

Backed out the garage and deposited some of the tire rubber onto the concrete to make sure all was working as it should.

Does it ever go on the road past the driveway?  I don't think in all the years I've known you and you've been in the club I've ever seen your car.  It's one of the club phantom's, kind of like Chris R.'s '66.  razzrazz

LoL,

I dd have it on the road but after having a wheel cylinder go belly up while stopping (all drum, single master cylinder). I decided to tinker around with it while planning a brake upgrade.

Sounds like Chris is the man to talk to, he did a  upgrade on his 66 with PDB up front and larger Impala drums on the back?  Something to consider.  I still have the PB with drums and single master cylinder; but rarely drive in the metro area.

Throwing 4 new wheel cylinders in it is FAR quicker and cheaper than getting involved in an upgrade right now...stirpot

Yay, OK, may as well buy all new flex hoses, because they are age cracked too...rolleyes

I still have the disc set-up, complete, hanging on my roller Elky frame.
Cheap!
Frame going on CL next week.

I am running out of room.
Bought four (4) Suburbans in the last month.

I've got the parts for 4th gen f-body brake conversion, life just keeps getting in the way every time I want to set aside some time.

New motor is in, had it running a couple of times, once exhaust work completed might roll through the neighborhood a bit.

The "legal" car is still over at the neighbors under the covers... the "illegal" car has REALLY been tempting me for a go-kart session...
