It was finally warm enough today to pull the front seat to take it to Yellow Dog Upholstery in the morning to have him remove the upholstery and replace the foam.  40 degrees inside the garage without any heat!

No surprises getting it out, and I was able to confirm it had brand new upholstery and old original foam.  Why the previous owner had new material put on and didn't replace the foam is a mystery, other than he didn't want to spend the extra $200.

I did confirm my car is a potential Chevelle Hospital patient needing a small floor rust repair on the drivers side in the passenger floor area.  I could see on the underside where some of the undercoating had dropped off, and there's a couple of inches of weak/rusted floor.  the area around it is completely solid.  This is the only area I know of on the car.  So Mitch I'll have to talk to you about putting in a patch someday.  tiphat

Good idea John.  I'll check it out before I put the seat back in.

Looks like water pooled there right where the wire harness cover is, so it could have gotten inside.

In my instance it looked like it got "spiked" by a screw or something... none the less the insulation was compromised and the corrosion started.

That would be mine. She hated the small seat and would start complaining after an hour. I finally bought a touring seat a few years ago and she loves it now.
