Car Show Weekend

What a great weekend for car shows. Stopped by the Mopars in the park show at the Dakota county fair grounds in Farmington Saturday. This is a big one for Mopar folks, very nice cars, lots of them, I‘d say 1200+. Some very rare Mopars; even us Chevy guy have to admit Mopar helped set the pace in the 60s and 70s. Lots of venders and swap stuff.

It was a great show but there was dust, dust everywhere. I really felt sorry for the guys; just too many gravel roads. They did have water trucks but they just could not keep up.

Sunday morning I did the all GM show at the Fair Grounds. Nice cars, all GM, several real nice GTOs, 442s, Camaros and some great mid 50s Chevys, only a handful of Chevelles. Did have a bit of a NCC gathering, ran into Frank and his lovely daughter, Mitch, Mike, and Brad. Swap stuff was the same old stuff but Mitch did find some parts he needed. Food was good but again dust, they are doing lots of construction at the Fair Grounds, so the winds where kicking up lots of dust.

Sunday afternoon it was off to the Apple Valley Ford show, sorry guys. Just about all Mustangs, some other stuff, but overwhelmingly Mustangs. No dust, did not taste the food; lots of Fords, looked for Terry he is always there, just didn’t see him.

They did have on display a new Boss 302 Mustang with the drag pack, no back seat just bracing, what a car, comes with two keys street or track, I don’t think there it another production car that can compete with it; if I only had some more of that disposable income.

Great car weekend. Made up for all the ugly weather we’ve had up to this point, hopefully there’s more ahead.

Anoka last night was huge and you (finally) couldnt ask for better weather.

Ive been dealing with some serious and major pain in my lower back which may be due to either a sciatic nerve or a herniated disc. Ive been waking up to some serious pain every morning for over a month even after visits to a doctor and several visits to a chiropractor. Which I have never done before. I usually start feeling much better once I move around and can last the rest of the day. But I dont think I could handle walking around for a long time like the car show until I get an MRI done to really see what the problem was. It was none to happy when I woke up this morning and just knew I wouldnt be able to make it down to the fairgrounds show today. But I did alright walking around Anoka last night, even if it was only for a few hours.

Sorry to hear about your back issues Chris. I know first hand how they suck. I was at a graduation in WI yesterday and it was a gorgeous day and evening and made for a nice drive. I was mentioning to Shannan about how it was a perfect night for Anoka or Hastings while driving home. It was too nice not to go down to the all GM show this morning. I ran into Brad looking at an LS6 Chevelle and Kevin and Mitch in the swap meet. It's always good to see some of the guys when out and about.

Anoka was as full as I have ever seen it since it moved from the old river location. I talked to the gate folks about 7:30 and they advised a car count at that time was 522 and they have 525 parking spots available. Some folks left early which gave space to some late comers. Absolutely beautiful night and a lot of new cars since last year.

My wife read this and responded "what a bum, all he did all day was drive around and look at cars ?" Doesn't he have a yard to maintain or house projects to work on like we do ? "  LMAO....... I informed her you were retired and did those things during the week and offered to relieve her of yard duty if I could retire and do it during the day too.  If you guessed that I got shot down,  you're correct.

It was great to see so many people I knew there this year. Many times I go to events and never see anyone I know.

I'll agree, it was a perfect weekend - even 180 miles north.
