Show 9 to 4

It's a craft fair and car show. Getting pretty big! Lots of stuff for the "gearhead wife" to see, and the Nisswa shopping is close too.

John, this looks like a possible cruise/overnight opportunity like the Rhinelander cruise.  Worth looking into?

Despite the engine breakdown we had on the Rhinelander trip.... my wife told me the other day she'd like to do an overnight trip/cruise with the Chevelle again.

Yahoo maps shows this is a 3 hour drive for us from the SE metro.

Just got back a few hours ago from a great weekend "up North"!

A 380+ mile cruise session with NO problems other than a hot re-start stall out, and a little coolant puke at a fuel stop, after 75 miles of 60mph running.

Stan & Tina joined Sheryl, me, and my Mom for a weekend up at our lake cabin, with the Pequot Show as our primary objective. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather, or venue location.

It was great for all - "the girls" had a ton of craft vendors and small boutiques to shop the day away, while Stan and I toured the show. There was some really neat (and well done) stuff there!

(California or the Discovery Channel has NOTHING on the creativity of Minnesotans during the 7 month winters)

So that it's clear... it was my car that stalled with the heat soak at idle, and puked some anti-freeze.  John's well engineered ride performed flawlessly and every time he starts that fuel injected machine, I want to run away screaming!  ::

My wife and I had a great time.  John's Mom is one cool lady and a great hostess.  It didn't hurt that she reminded me of my Mom that passed away 9 years ago... It would have been my Mom's 77th birthday last week, so maybe that was on my mind.  Thanks John for sharing your Mom.  ::

It was a great show in a city park, there were 104 cars, food and craft vendors, and a decent DJ.

Here's an interior pic of the '60 Plymouth Fury.  It had a record player that was playing a dealer record explaining all the 'high tech' features of the car.

And you have to love a town that's water tower looks like a bobber!

And ending the day on the lake.

I was in the 17 range, running about 65 > 68 mph most of the time.

I checked once on the way up, and it was a very disappointing 11+ mpg (I don't drive them for the mileage though).  It was over 90 degrees, we were pushing 70+ during that stretch of highway, and I HAD to keep up with JD, so I was pushing harder than 'normal'.  I was running at 2700-2800 rpm the whole time.

Coming back Sun. at 60 mph/2300 rpm, it seemed to use a LOT less, but I didn't check the mileage.

Darn that John D. and his high tech fuel injected starts easy cruise controlled black beastie!!!
