She says I spend too much time "yacking" on car boards. I see I've just qualified as a Red Star "Super Poster"....smile
Still a LOOOOONG way behind Bowtie...wink

Don't any of you tell her I had a moment of weakness of thinking she was right, either.....disbelief

I was receiving the same type of feedback from my wife recently until she started a facebook account after the first of the year, and now she can't say this to me anymore.  biggrin

My wife is just glad I mind my own business and stay out of her way.
Had minor surgery in November, home for 2 1/2 days. On last day she came to me and asked "you are going to work tomorrow, aren't you?"
Keep in mind I was hiding in the loft, on computer and watching tv. I was truly out of her way. Kept volume low.
Just my presence was a disturbance for her.
Obviously I can never retire if it means changing my hours at home. Have to join the lonely guys at Mcdonalds in the a/m and our local Pub in the p/m
That is what, soon to be, 40 years of marriage does for you!

Karl

Karl, I worked with a guy who announced he was retiring that Friday morning. Tuesday afternoon his wife called stating that if he does not go back to work on Wed she will kill him. Clarence retired 3 more times in the next 8 years he did manage 1 month and that was after a 3 week vacation with the wife and came back again. He finally was forced out of the shop just shy of 68 and wife was then stuck at home with him.

I wish I had an income that would allow me to retire. I could spend the next 10 years in my shop and only come in for meals and week ends. Course it would cost 24k a year in parts and supplies to keep me going....aww

Hey now, you'll be happy to know that this is my #1 site I go to anymore. I actually have to work at work now instead of surf like I did at the last place, so I only get to here consistantly.

It's not like my wife registered herself and asked what I wanted for dinner like ANOTHER member's wife did. Then again, he's on I'd guess 5 sites regularily every day........ and probably a top poster on each.

This has been the only car board I have been on lately as well with being a full time student and all. I aviod TC at times because I know I will get sucked in and I just dont have the time these days. Im in the top 10 posters on TC with over 14K posts so I know what its like to surf for hours on car forums. I have been surfing this board way more often then TC because its quick and I can catch up in less then 10 minutes. Starting to have TC withdrawels but what can ya do.

I remember The Wife posts. Actually came across it again a few months back when I was trying to search for something else. That post still exists.

You just made me feel like a newbie. I've been on various vehicle forums for 9 years and don't have that many posts combined...wink

And im still way behind Derek. But then again. Thats over 10 years of posting for us too. I also recall having over 1300 posts on the last club board before this one. But that was over a few years time.

I'm somewhere around 15K on TC... if "Current Events" posts counted, I'd probably be closer to 20K

Wife says car clubs are just fine, no facebook or other online resources. She knows that when I spend money on the car, I lighten up on her overspending.

I just got back to "lurking" around TC again after about a YEAR of avoiding it. I really got a bad taste in my mouth when it went totally commercial about a year ago. Plus I got very tired of the SOSDD posts in nearly every catagory.

It really sucks that Al sold it and it is so jammed with commercials, pop-ups and crap now. The REALLY sad part, is the same holding company went around the web and bought up nearly EVERY vehicle forum. The GTO site I've been on for a few years is owned by them now too and it's all the same commercial crap....furious

What is that new Chevelle site some of the long timers started after Al sold out?

The worst on TC is that since Discount Tire started to sponsor the Tires/Wheels section, they use the forum software to BLOCK all links to TireRack.com furious

There were 2 that started up right around this time a year ago... within a couple days of each other.

chevelleforum.net - I'm on this one as moderator for brakes & suspension

chevellestuff.com - I haven't been active on this one, I'm on too many forums already

The other thing I found out recently (Ok, September)... is that TC is doing the same crap as the old "Columbia House Records" scam/deal...

Read the fine print - by renewing you're enrolled in an automatic deal that renews your membership until you cancel it. no  At least Al & Dot sent you a reminder, then thanked you with a "tenure" sticker & fridge magnet (years served) instead of a newbie/generic package.

That would only work if you paid with a crdeit card. I last paid with a direct withdrawl from Pay Pal. I doubt they can get in there without my knowing it.

I kicked in for the lifetime since it was cheap enough. I try to get on TC twice a week now, but that's about it. I only get on here once each evening now as it is.

I also kicked in for the cheap lifetime membership when it was like 20 bucks or something. I dont like that Al sold out either. I wish he would have given a Team Chevelle member a chance to buy it and keep all that commercialism crap out. But I figured it was worth the 20 bucks to have access to the classifieds in which I have no problem trusting buying from anyone on TC incase I run across a part I need.
