Need ideas for an April tour/tech session, etc

Looking for something to do or a place to tour for April.

I know there were a few members who mentioned winter projects... Bill L, Paul M, Seth L, Gavin H.

If anyone has an interest in hosting a tech session where a bunch of people will get in the way and "help", post up...laughing

Seriously, there are a lot of experienced and talented people in this group that are willing to help get/keep a project moving.

Any ideas on an automotive business who would host a tour, let me know and I will get busy researching it.

Thanks

I don't have anything in the works. I lost track of time over the past 4 weeks with constant work on my Camaro.
If anyone has an idea, please speak up and we can see about the Saturday of April 22 for something.

I had an idea of something I was interested in checking out but its really more of a winter cold outside type of event since its an indoor thing and totally not car related. But the Blue Sun Soda shop in Spring Lake Park not only stocks rare, hard to find and popular brand sodas but they also make thier own and do tours of the factory. Also, years ago I had thrown the idea around of setting up a meeting at a railroad restoration shop in St Paul. The model railroad club im in got a tour of thier backshop about 12 years ago and it was 100% volunteers that were performing the work. They have a museum section thats open to the public but I havent heard much on if they still offer tours of their workshop. Shop was full of vintage steam and transition era diesel equipment plus old pullman passenger equipment and a rare 1 of 3 built caboose in there back then. I saw that caboose years later after it was restored and it looked quite nice. 1 of 3 early steel caboose built for Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR.

Chris, I think the club had considered the train museum a number of years back and it was a rain day. I just looked it up and it's still operating and now has a model train display as well. I would find this interesting and would consider it for the 22nd, but would enough of the other members be interested ?
The cost is ~$11-16, depending on how much "patina" we have... aka senior discount. The cost does include a short ride on one of the trains.
Link to their webpage.

https://transportationmuseum.org/

I don't see any reference to a separate area/room for a meeting, so that would need to be arranged, possibly at a nearby food facility. Anyone interested, reply on this page.

I'll see if I can get this info on the member fb page too.

UPDATE: I called the museum and they have a heated passenger car outside that we can use for the meeting.
Depending on how many people commit, we could get a slight group discount, but I'm not "counting " on that.
We can stay as long as we wont and they still provide shop tours, where the restorations are on going with volunteers there to answer questions.
This is sounding like a doable tour and if we can't pull this together for April, we can consider it for other months.

Thanks Bruce. You're the only affirmative so far. I've had 3 people on FB say they can't make it...

That sounds like a great idea, but I am still "isolating" because of COVID. Even thought I am fully vaccinated, I am still many times more likely to get it than a healthy individual.

Dang, Larry, are they ever going to let you out of isolation jail ? as far as I'm concerned, this crap is here to stay, just like the flu that comes around every year in a different strain. The world will never be rid of covid and I feel so badly for people like you, who are such high risk.

I didnt realize there was a cost involved. Thats a change from when I was there last. I dont know if I would want to impose admission costs to the club or any of its members. I think there are a few members of my MRR club I can get in touch with and get more information. We used to set up our modular layout there every holiday season but covid changed that & I havent been up to date on their operations. Its the Jackson Street Roundhouse.
