Upgrading 4 cameras on the top of a water tower.
Wasn't too bad of a job, other than:
- Climbing six 50' stages of a rung ladder system to the top
- Hauling/Roping up all the tools & equipment, "leap-frogging" everything 6 times at each stage
- Having a ****ed-off Peregrine Falcon (who lives up there) buzzing & strafing us "Get Off My Lawn Humans!"
This is looking SW down the Mississippi River. Too bad about the haze/smoke or it would've been a great view!

Other than being afraid of heights, I think that is just awesome!

Other than being afraid of heights...

When I first started in this industry 25+ years ago, I didn't have much time/experience "at height". I still get oogie working on ladders, but boom/scissor lifts (up to about 50') are OK.

The safety protocols we need to follow are extensive. Tie-Offs, "swing" protection, drop calculations, etc. A lot of this stuff is a PITA, but it's all in place so you go home at the end of the day.

You can get killed as easily from a fall from a 6' stepladder as slipping off a water tower.

As I tell "noobs" to working in these conditions... "It's not the height to worry about, it's the stop at the bottom!"
