It's that time of year again...

I pulled the trigger and did a VIP entry for the Roadster.

Sometime in the next month I've gotta get under it, do a "bolt check", and change the gearbox fluid (5K on it now from "out of the box")

3 Days & Counting...

9 qts. of new 5W-30 synthetic in the pan with a new filter, 3 qts. of "Synchromesh" synthetic in the gearbox (minimal sparklies in the old stuff BTW), and one loose (non-critical) holddown bolt for the rear inner fender splash panel.
Torque check on the wheels, about 3/4 turn adjustment on the clutch actuator rod (free-play adjustment)... and I think it's good to go!

I'm hauling it up on a stretcher. I usually take pride in driving my stuff to and from the track, but after Rock Falls a few years ago (Blackie)... I wanna remove the "How you gonna get home?" monkey off my back. I can concentrate on running the car hard(er) than I would without backup.

Been having a blast at Powercruise...

The "VIP" package isn't very "VIP", but you do get onto the track a bit faster than the standard entrants.

The car is running fabulous. Being someplace where you can really let the Coyote 5.0 stretch it's legs is a trip. This powerplant just wants to REV! It really comes alive above 3500, and just PULLS up to 6500+. Oil pressure varies between 50 & 90 psi (depending on RPM), coolant has never nudged above 90C, even after a hard run and then "traffic".

So far the "tattle-tale" on the speedo is telling me...

Dang, that rock went deep. Did you get a jar of touch up paint from Jeff ?
Remember to reset the "tattle tale" before the drive home, or it could be expensive.

Oh yeah... it took a CHUNK out - down into the 'glass at least 1/16". This might be a filler/prime/spot repair job. I've got about a pint of color left over from Jeff.

Had a great time at Powercruise. It does get a little frustrating, as the wait time to get on the track can be a bit long, and 90% of the entrants are set up to go fast in a straight line, where as I'm more interested in turning left & right. (traffic bottles up the turns).
 
I did get two opportunities where I was 1st car out of staging and had nobody in front of me... could actually cut a line/apex/use the whole track through the corners.
 
 
The personally satisfying part of the event was after 3 days of thrashing I pulled it up on the trailer, tied it down, and headed home with nothing broken.

Honest opinion here, but I think you'd enjoy an HPDE type event more than PowerCruise. Something like the "Track Night in America" August 27th, or Suburban Corvettes "Driver School and Lapping Day" September 20th would be a good fit.

You'd need a helmet of course and maybe get a few more rock chips, but the overall risk to the car from anything catastrophic would be lower since the tech inspection would keep some of the questionable junk with bad drivers away from you that we saw at PowerCruise in 2018... 

With the more stringent tech though, you would want to ask someone if your roll-bar will pass tech since there is a rollbar requirement for convertibles/roadsters.

Congrats on that! It's a testament to a well-built and well-engineered car to be able to run hard with no failures! 

Some of us take a few failures before we get it there. doh
