Thank You To Hood Pins
Permalink

On Monday, I took the Chevelle out to get the last of the tranny break-in miles on it.  When I was getting close to home, I noticed that the hood was moving more than normal.  When I got home, I popped the hood and found that the hood latch pin had come out of the mount in the hood.  When I looked at it, it really did not have that many threads in the mount.  I never looked for how many threads it had on it, when I restored the car.  I just took it to the powder coating shop.  Needless to say, a new one has been ordered.  Thank goodness for hood pins.

The threaded part looks too short, it should be long enough so you can adjust the closed height of the front of the hood and there should be room for a jam nut. Does the stud look broken at the threads?

Glad the hood pins were there!!!!

When I ordered the new one, I saw it had more threads then the one I have. The new one does come with a jam nut. If it did not, I was going to add one.
