I really like the 53-54 Studebakers designed by Raymond Loewy. Not a fan of the Avanti.

There's a couple of those Loewy Studes, but I'm not taking on any more projects right now... Even listed one for sale today (70 Opel GT)

Rust belt car, or clean ?
Private swap meet...laughing

Doesn't come up on craigslist...headscratch

When I was in my 20's, my Dad bought a supercharged 63 Avanti. Then he had a couple of heart attacks and wasn't able to drive it. When I was visiting, he would say "I think we should take the Stude for a drive." I would take him to an industrial park and cruise around. He always said "These supercharged engines need to be wound up a bit, and we need to keep the suspension limbered up." I would smoke the tires and slide around corners while he smiled.
He died a few months later after another heart attack, and we sold all his toys, including the Avanti. So how could I not like them?

Rust free car but has been a racecar since 1973 so it's beat up. Back end is crunched from spinning into the wall at BIR at its last race at the Jack Pine Sprints in 1991.

I listed it on a few Opel groups on Facebook, haven't put it on Craigslist yet.

Dang, too bad it's crashed. That would be a sweet car to return to the street, being rust free.

Larry, no offense intended, many people do like the Avanti body style and being supercharged, I'm sure it was a fun car to drive.

Sorry to hear your Dad went too soon and you lost all his toys, but I DO see where you get your background in fast cars from...thumbsup

Here's some pictures of the Opel GT. I bought it on an estate auction in November... I really don't care if it sells, so I'm not trying too hard. dunno It's cool, and would be a good candidate for ice-racing or vintage road race events. I just don't have the time or money to keep adding more projects when I can't finish the ones I already have.

I want to buy a tire-changer but don't want to dip into savings at this time, so I'm selling a few things that I'm not attached to. My shop is full, and I'm tired of spending all my time out there moving things that are in the way rather than working on the projects.

Cool car to see, but too stripped down to return to the street.
Um, I hear ya on too many projects, no time or money to complete them.
I have a '69 C10 for sale and they seem to have fallen off the earth for resale. I'd like to get what I paid for it back four years ago, but prices seem to be about 1/2 to 2/3rds of that. I'll sit on it till the market comes back. It doesn't cost me anything to let it sit in the new shed.

The thing about these Opels, is they're not worth anything... Really nice ones are $10k

I have always liked them, but I don't see myself ever owning another unless it's another race car of some sort.

If this doesn't sell, I'll eventually get it back on a racetrack where it belongs. cool

I don't have much into it, so other than a little bit of shop space, it's not hurting anything to sit here.
