Previous owner just install a easy quick fix. Plastic filter and rubber line. I don’t know at this time if I will be keeping the Edelbrock carb and/or the intake. I just want a temporary fix that’s works and is safe. Can I just install a metal filter or do I also have to install a new hard line. I see Edelbrock has a filter and Line from filter to carb for around $50; but I would still need something from filter to pump. I was thinking of installing the metal filter and then running a metal line from that filter to the carb. Are there kits available that work work?
I would get a steel line from the auto parts store, an adapter to connect the steel line to the carb. I think the fuel pump is 3/8 inverted flare (check it, there may be some kind of adapter on the pump outlet that you could use as a sample for sizing). Cut, shorten and bend as needed, locate the filter out in front of the engine away from exhaust heat, keep the rubber lines at the filter short. Maybe no more than $10.00 or so? I would also put a slight flare on the lines ends to the filter to help hold the rubber lines in place.
I have the Summit brand 90 degree line that fits under an air filter. It has an included fuel filter with a 3/8 male end. I used a braided flex hose from the pump to the filter and routed it in the original position. No hoses, or issues with the nipple coming straight out of the carb.

Found it at summit part # G1532; Thanks, I wonder if amazon carries it? Do you use a fitting on the fuel pump in addition to the braided flex hose?

That looks like an SAE flare which is a 45* (as I recall) hard to tell for sure in the picture, but not the same as copper/brass @ 37*. You would need a two part fitting assembled on to the braided hose at each end and then adapt to the fuel pump. I don't think that hose would work as a push on. Also you will need to check thread style/size at the carb and get a banjo to (I think) 7/8-20 adapter, same as Holley with center hung float. Another-words, I don't think you just screw the fitting (as pictured) directly into the carb. Maybe Mitch could clarify for sure.
