Over the past 3 days, I assembled the '54 210 I tore all apart a couple years ago. I modified the crossmember for the TH350 and set the engine/trans in place and put the front clip back on. The trunk and interior are full of parts too.
I took that and the Impala to Amery WI yesterday for the winter, to get them out of my way. I am looking at getting another pole building put up, yet this fall and will have a new home for them next spring.
Home Depot and Lowes have heavy duty boxes, They work well for shop stuff, books and dishes.
Thanks, we've contributed to Lowe's profit margin already for those boxes and packaging tape...
My sister moved last spring and brought us about 8 totes she used and 8 wheeled trash containers ?? we have no idea what to jam in those, but at the frantic end, I'm sure we will find something...
We bought the John Deere lawn tractor that they had too. My Toro has 870 hours and the engine is now getting tired and the steering is very sloppy, again. I replaced the 2 gear pieces at about 400 hours. They wear quickly, due to poor design and lack of hardening. The JD has power steering and deck lift. 22 hp, liquid cooled Kawasaki engine. I used it today to mow a spot in the back yard for another pole building and it is a really nice piece of equipment. It only has 338 hours on it, so should last as long as I need it.
Karl is the first in the group to get a tour of the new place. He donated a LOT of boxes to pack our treasures in for the move, so stopped by yesterday. He and his bride were out for a Sunday drive
He did confirm what our son already told us. The dreaded RED room is going to be a LOT of work to paint, as it is done in gloss...
Maybe we can have a tech session with everyone sanding the walls...
Red is strong color and will probably required at least two coats of a good gray primer to block it enough to be painted something else without it bleeding through.

My son has worked for Sherwin/Williams for the past 6 years, while in school and college. He rattled off all sorts of stuff I need to seal and prime it ONCE it has been sanded. He said there is a chemical that will soften the gloss enough to paint over, but it's tricky and not as good as sanding... I wish the french doors to that room were solid color. I would just close them and forget about it...
I always wash with TSP, cleans good, and dulls the surface. Maybe use a waterproof sandpaper with the TPS. My daughter when she was in grade school wanted her room painted a vibrant green; but not a gloss. Washed with TSP, 1 coat of primer, and 2 coats of an off white. That was in 1995 when she left for college.
