House (and BIG shop) for sale
Permalink

We have signed an agreement to purchase a different home, and pending successful inspections, will be closing August 22nd.

Our current home will be on the market by mid September.

If any of you would seriously consider buying it, I am very willing to look at a sale using real estate attorney's to complete the transaction legally and leave out the realtor and the significant fee associated with that. The price would reflect that cost saving.

PLEASE us the PM feature to respond.

Unfortunately, we are jumping the river and moving 4 miles south of Hudson on almost 3 acres. Properties south of us in MN are too expensive and not what we really want. The new house is a walkout rambler with 3400 finished sq ft. Not exactly downsizing, as most empty nesters do, but there is plenty of room for my wife's quilting hobby now.

Pole building is only 25X45. I'm taking 2 cars to storage in Amery WI in a couple weeks and they will sit there until I get another building up, hopefully next year. I have my 1969 C10 for sale to eliminate 1 vehicle to find parking/storage for and put the funds towards installing a ceiling and insulation in the new barn. It has 240v 100 amp service and concrete floor, but no water or heat.

You will love the Rambler.
Can the building be expanded?
Well and septic, I assume.

Love the asphalt drivethumbsup

What are you using for plowing now?

Karl

The building could be made longer, but the LP tank and existing shed would need to be moved.. Plus, the building blocks much of the view from one kitchen window and my wife really doesn't want to extend it and block it more. There is a rather level pad a hundred, or so, feet behind this one where we will explore just putting up another building with a gravel floor for storage. Getting the 2 lifts and 4 cars out of the "shop" will free up about the same amount of square footage as I have now. Of course, cost of an addition versus a whole 'nuther building will be a major factor in what we do.

Yes, private well and septic, just as we have now. They will be tested in the next couple weeks to insure compliance and functionality.

Plow ?, not a problem...cool

Correction...5 WORST winter months. Yeah, 14" of snow in mid-April is NOT pleasant.

That's a nice looking house and property. Almost enough to forgive you for moving even farther away.

Like so many others, I would be glad to help pack and or move.

When is the moving-party? I can bring the enclosed trailer if I'm around that weekend.

Beautiful home and property, congratulations.
Could you add on to the front of the pole barn, use the existing blacktop surface then dress up the side facing the house?

I do 95% of cooking and dishes now, perhaps an option for you?
Keeps bride away from window, she can be downstairs quilting, enjoying the view from there?

No set day(s) for moving yet. We will drag it out for a week or 2. Closing is the 22nd and we are looking at scheduling a whole house carpet cleaning for the 23rd. We'll most likely move small boxes of "stuff" from closets and shelves into the garage that first weekend, while the carpet dries.

Adding on to the front of the existing building would be more difficult than the back, as the driveway slopes down, away from the shed. The blacktop wouldn't be level enough as a floor to use as is.

Karl, you just kicked the hornet's nest. Even with a separate building so far in the back as to not be visible, she STILL likes the idea of her getting out of the kitchen for more quilting time...boxing

Just trying to help, my wife never complains when I cook, do dishes or take her out.

What was the phrase metro-something or other?

The good news about wife's Dementia is that if she is angry with me, it passes pretty quickly.
I can also have as many cars as I want!

Treasure chest is about 7 miles away!

Looking like we will move all the household furniture the last Saturday of August or the first one of Sept,  If anyone isn't going anywhere either of those Saturdays, we would welcome the help.

Incorrect info, again, has been removed. I can't keep up with the pace of my own life right, or the months.

What the hell is this "retired" thing I keep hearing about  ???  doh

Home inspection is today, so I will have a solid idea if this is going to pass and the transaction move forward.

Wow, I need to either get my "stuff" together, or quit posting dates. Correct info is now, I THINK posted as for a move date.
Shop "stuff" will be during the week and most likely just me. I have no idea how any of that is going to play out yet, so no plans.

When I moved from Shoreview to Lino Lakes the garage was by far worst, with only 10 years to accumulate stuff.

Look like a nice place, you should be very happy there. thumbsup

Pretty much done with the arm wrestling over problems found at inspection.
The closing is still on in 2 WEEKS from today !
Looking like the main move will be September 7-8th. I will be moving small stuff all the time, but the household items will be moved all at once on that Saturday/Sunday.

Derek, the trailer would be a big help, if you don't mind us using it.

If I remember, it's a high cube too...thumbsup

Yes, 26' + V and a foot taller than standard.

Takes a decent sized truck, tow-mirrors, and 2-5/16" ball  to pull it. My truck won't be available.

I'd just ask that you or someone else with towing/backing experience pulls it.

It would only be me towing and I have mirror extenders for the travel trailer that will get my rearward vision out the side of the trailer.
