Throwback winter 1982 with my Chevelle

Since it feels like winter's never going to end...thought I'd post these throwback pics from 1982 when I drove my 71 Malibu home from college in a snowstorm. Yes they were our daily drivers back then!  Check out the side exit exhaust. I thought I was cool with glasspacks. Lol

Yeah, the starburst was the coolest part, and why I took the pics.  I'm sure there's some cool physics rotational explanation on why that happened, but I just thought it was interesting.  I think the road conditions were a mix of rain, snow, and sleet at the same time in northern Nebraska, so interesting conditions.

I don't feel like a whippersnapper any more.  oldscool

Yep, the perfect conditions of freezing rain and heavy fog will do that. I've had all 10 lug nut covers on the front wheels of the Pete look like that in the past. That was really wild. Every forward facing surface had 1/4" of ice frozen on it and the grille slots froze closed !! I had to stop and pound the ice off to cool the engine down in 28° temps.. doh
