Did I install aC Delco ball joint boot correctly?

No instructions like the Moog joint that has you seat the boot. Moog says to use a channel lock or socket to drive the boot down. There is about a 3/16” gap between the bottom of the boot and the top of the control arm. Take a look at the photo, I think I should do something similar to Moogs instructions.

Try boiling the boot in water then slip it on and drive it all the way down with some thing that is about the right diameter. Then reassemble.

There's a metal ring in that bottom boss of the boot. You can pull it down with the channel locks or remove the spindle again and drive it on with a socket. Exhaust pipe is too thin and will cut the rubber on top of the ring. Use a rag, doubled over for the channel look too. It does need to go all the way down to seal.
