Doing a good job... careful what you wish for...

Since I did such a bang-up job on the card access conversion at my primary client's world HQ (the M.M.M. sticky-stuff/sandpaper place), I've been stolen and going to Philadelphia next week to do the "pilot" conversion for 2 locations for another one of our enterprise accounts (the money people who use a stage-coach).

2018 and ?? may have gotten a little crazier..doh

Just make sure they don't try and open any new accounts on your behalf, it would make your credit card issues pale in comparison!
I hope they are making it worth your while so you can whine all the way to the bank with a smile on your face.

That’s exactly what happened to that great painter with a brush. He wound up laying on his back painting that chapel ceiling.

I hardly think my work will be the subject of awe 500 years from now...(with electronics it's obsolete 5 years when I install it), but it is nice to be appreciated once in awhile. Our/my biggest problem is there's no "young bucks/doe's" coming up through the ranks for us old farts to dump our knowledge into their heads.

Everyone wants plug-n-play, and when it breaks - toss it and buy new.
Troubleshooting & repair (at the component level) is lost/gone - amputate at the nearest joint/sub-assembly - and replace.

John my youngest son is getting into the guitar building scene. Looking at getting him a Radio Shack kit to learn electronics.
He wants to start winding his own pickups and is doing a custom wire job on his latest guitar. Yes soldering is a new skill he has learned.

Got some bad news this past Thursday...

A little before lunch I get a call from my department supervisor (Director of Operations), who's the 2nd guy under the owner.
It turns out that the (newer) guy I've been training/mentoring for the last 18 months was given the option to resign gracefully, or get outright fired. I was not privy to details. eek2

I get back to the shop from "Sandpaper/Sticky-Stuff HQ" and am asked to check out his truck, pull any job material/parts out that were logged out to him, and lock it up.

All of his personal tools, "stuff", everything was still in there. I'm guessing he was escorted out, and given a ride or cab fare home. headscratchheadscratchheadscratch dunno

He was being groomed to take the new installations load this year, while I'm bopping around the country doing system upgrades... I guess my life just got a whole lot busier.

Hopefully, they will get a replacement ASAP and not try to dump everything on you.
