2017 is going to set a record... least miles driven, and lowest attendance at Club functions.

Street Machine Nat'ls - Kids fly in that Friday, weekend will be nuts.

Powercruise - Lake Association Board Mtg & Summer Social

Hastings - Cabin weekend with everyone

Everythings falls on a weekend where there's a car event!... Can't win! I'll be living vicariously through you guys, post lots of pictures!

In May, they oiled and rocked my road, plus Mother Nature has not been that co-operative, so I have been limited at getting the car out.

Welcome to my world, I know you were there when yours were growing up.

I work every 3rd Saturday, have 2 kids in high school now, both in multi-season sports. One is in AAU, which took us across Wisconsin, MN, Iowa, and Las Vegas. The other one just made the competition dance team (thankfully she quit gymnastics) so there's parades and stuff all summer too.

4 years and I'll be good to go again!

Hah... It doesn't end then...

I really thought that when you did your parental duty - raising decent kids, giving them the resources to "leave the nest", etc.... and they ultimately left the nest - they'd take all their crap with them!
Nope. (Been storing kid #1's trappings for 5 years - kid #2 is bouncing back & forth from College).

Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I may bytch & moan, but I've got 2 (adult) kids that still think I'm "cool", will talk to me or ask for advise, and place some value in "Maybe Dad does know what he's talking about"...

That's the payoff. The next 20 years of them relating to you as an adult, and you acknowledging them as one.

I'm in the "watching it sit" club too. I tore the '66 apart November of 2015 and haven't driven it since, well, except for back and forth in the shop. I'm hoping to get it painted yet this summer, but it will most likely take until next season to have it all assembled and driveable.

Bring them with you on Friday or Saturday of the SMN's!  It won't be the same without you there...  I don't think you've missed one in years.  beers

We all go through phases in life and have priorities, which sometimes the cars take a backseat to.  It's always a good feeling walking into the garage and seeing it sitting there ready for a drive when you are though.

Things do change, and the car time will come back.  The pic is from yesterday where the KC club went to lunch, an Air Museum, then a cruise in.  Put a couple hundred miles on the car, and it ran great.  We don't always have time for club events either, but it's always fun when we do.

There's only so many weekends during our 90 days of Summer... and priorities need to be set. "Car Stuff" is low-on-the-pole when it comes to family...

I completely agree John.  We can't wait to get back to MN this week to see our daughter that just got engaged a few weeks ago, so making sure we fit that in along with SMN's.  The wedding planning has already begun... and I pulled the plug on my shop building knowing this was coming!  hyper  Another example of family trumping the car stuff, which is for a good reason.  dancenana

Wedding plans are a breeze compared to:
(all setting up via "remote control" and 1/2-way across the planet)...

Apartment Lease
Vehicle purchase/lease
Vehicle Insurance
Renter's Insurance
Coordinating furniture "donations" among aunts/uncles/G-parents/friends...
And I won't even touch our Gub-mint's "speedy" responses to someone trying to enter our Country legally, and obtaining proper documentation.
(The GD dog got in here without a hitch... no quarantine/zero. But can my SIL get a work Visa??!!)

beamupThe only important thing we REALLY do is to raise, nurture, mentor our families.
All else pales in comparison, remember everything we do family wise is making some kind of a memory.
The future will determine if that memory is good or bad.
That said keeping a balance is very important.

On top of everything else this weekend, we had a big hole cut in the house!
For years Sheryl has wanted a door from the Dining room out to the patio. We worked with "Renewal by Anderson" on it, and signed the deal. Of course the only available installation time was the same Friday the kids flew home, and the weekend of the Summer Nationals.

Basically we removed the window, cut the wall down to the floor, and put a door in the new opening. No new framing or header work was necessary, as the new door is the same width as the old window.

We missed you and Sheryl at the SMN's John.  It wasn't the same without you.  Hopefully next year!  beers
