2016 Fall Color Route 66 Tour

Went on a fall weekend cruise with the KC and St. Louis Chevelle clubs, and thought you guys might enjoy the pics since it didn't look like you did a Fall club cruise this year?

We were in southern Mizzeri (Missouri to those that don't the Show Me State) on parts of the Mother Road Route 66.  Other than starting out on a rainy Friday morning, the rest of the weekend was perfect.  I can check driving on Route 66 off my bucket list now.

The last pic of the items hanging from the ceiling is from the bar that is in the pic before it.  If that building could talk... it's been there since the early 20's!

Enjoy.

It's just NOT FAIR, living that close to the Route...doh Can't cross it off until you've driven it to the Pacific...stirpot

The pic of the '71, blue with white stripe down the side, he have the wheels you sold off the vert ?? I would've liked to have gotten down there for those.

The "decor" in the bar.....did they buy those at garage sales, or have them all "donated" on site...headscratch

One would hope they are all donated on site to get some enjoyment from the experience.

That's a long drive to the Pacific Mitch on mostly 2 lane highway, even though I have ice cold AC now!  We were about 3 hours south of KC, so Route 66 isn't close but it was close enough for a weekend drive.  It was amazing how windy/twisty/SLOW Route 66 was, and we couldn't imagine trying to cross the country on it.  But, the pace of life was much slower then, and it was more of a driving 'experience' making your way across America.

The rims on the '71 in the picture aren't my old ones, but very similar.  If you're interested in the ones like I had, there's a guy in Bloomington that sells them.  They were Showwheels brand and the model is called the Streeter.  I had 17 x 7's and 8's on the vert.  If you search CL by 'chevelle' you will usually see the guys ad from Bloomington fairly regularly.

Here's the link to the Showwheels site:  LINK TO STREETER RIM

And yes... the story behind the bra's is they were 'donated' on site.  cool

Got-a ask. Any donations made during your visit?
Great pics Stan, you should have included a couple long dark black tire marks over the Route 66 decal.
Looks like a great group of folks. I miss our fall cruises with events like John D's drive through tour of the trailer park and Shawna's great pictures that captured the memory's.

laughing that WAS great. There were people gawking and wondering what the hell was going on, including us..laughing

Stan, the lure of your wheels was the used price. Probably not in the market to buy a set new.

There is very little of Route 66 left to drive on all the way to the coast. There are a few significant stretches thru NM, AZ and CA that I intend to travel on sometime before I croak. Gotta get out and enjoy this country before the corrupt politicians destroy it completely.

Not during that visit as it was too early in the a.m.  If we had arrived later in the day in time for happy hour... the possibility was there.  razz

Knowing the history, I think I would've had to wait around for happy hour...tongue_smilie.gif
