So, does this mean you aren't buying yours back for the drivetrain ?

Stan, I won't live long enough to restore 5 cars with MN rust issues. A clean TX car is a dream come true for us rust belt guys. The '66 Malibu I brought home from Montana only needed a truck floor from the usual leaky back window. The rest of the car is about as clean as they come. That TX car looks clean in the pics and could be a driver as he is changing out parts. Of course, I would request more pics and close ups of the usual rust areas before running down there, but it's a far better starting point than a rust bomb.

A 4-5 day round trip and $800-$1,000 in gas is FAR less expensive and time consuming than replacing an entire floor and quarters...and that is usually just the start of the panel replacement on a northern car.

I agree, the better the 'bones' of the car are... the better the result and less work is needed.  You're preaching to the choir for me on the last part as I flash back to the '72 vert resto.

I looked at this car and it is quite nice.

With the body work and paint done about 16 years ago there are no bubbles or rust. Original stock condition complete with 2-barrel carb and points distributor. The only weird thing is the front seat back is tilted way back, like it is from the hood. The floor is great and appears solid just the seat leans way back.

 It appears to be adjusted all the way back and they lean like that then.
