November meeting need input...

There was discussion at the September meeting about a bowling outing for the November meeting. The venue would be the Mermaid Bowling Alley, restaurant, lounge and motel on CR 10 and 35W in Mounds View. The date is Saturday November 21st.  Bowling time from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. We could meet prior for a business meeting. The Mermaid has a good restaurant and who ever wanted could meet before or after for dinner. They also serve pizza at the lanes. The Mermaid has adult leagues that night but have four open lanes that we have reserved that would accommodate up to 20 bowlers. Normal cost is $20 per lane per hour for up to five people plus $3.50 per person shoe rental. We won a 10 person bowling party at a car show this summer that would cover the cost of two of the lanes and shoes for ten. We would contribute that to reduce the overall cost.   Bottom line is maximum cost would be between $0 and $10 per bowler.  Dinner and drinks are your responsibility.  I know I haven't bowled for about 25 years but am willing to hurt myself for the good of the club. This is during an adult league time and adult beverages are served. It is leaning toward an adult function, but the responsibility to bring children is left up to parents.

We need to let the Mermaid know asap to retain our lane reservations, so a quick response to a couple of questions is required.  Here are the questions: Who would be interested in actually bowling?  Who would come for a social outing and cheer on the bowlers?

We're already late for this date....razz

NOVEMBER 21st will work for us. I would try bowling again and the wife would most likely cheer on the gutter ballers.

We may also be interested in meeting earlier for dinner so she doesn't have to cook..thumbsup

The November 21st meeting date has been confirmed with the Mermaid in Mounds View. The schedule will be those that want to meet for dinner will do so at 5:00 PM at the Mermaid restaurant/bar area. They have several functions that night so seating is at a premium. They will accommodate us together in the bar area. There is a limited menu due to all the events. I will attach the menu. There should be something for everyone. Please RSVP for dinner so I can make reservations. The meeting and annual election will be 5:45 for those that don't want to eat there and just attend the meeting. Bowling is 6:30-8:30. Dinner expense is on your own. Bowling and shoes are paid for.

I need to confirm numbers attending and for dinner. So far I have:
Bowling: Jon H(2), Tom B(1),Mitch(1),Ron F(1), John D(2),Chris S(2), Chris R(2), Chris P(1) total of 12.
Hecklers: Larry L(1), Mitch(1), Chris P(1), Ron O(1), Pat O(1), Mike S(2) total of 7.

If these numbers change please let me know.

Elections: Right now we have one member running for each office. If anyone else wants to throw their hat in the ring please post something on the forum. Current candidates are:
President: Chris S., Vice pres: Chris P., Secretary: Jenny S., Treasurer: Mike S., Webmaster: John D.
I think all positions have been nominated and seconded, we will need a confirmation vote if there are no other candidates by the 21st.

Please respond YES or NO for dinner.

That's OK Mike, we voted you in for a couple more positions and used your name on the score board whenever one of us had a lousy game...laughing

Barb and I had a good time, even though I can't bowl anymore. Others had fun with my ineptness too...rolleyes

It was great to see people come out for this. It seems to be a popular thing and maybe it could be discussed to repeat again for next Novembers club event. It would be nice to have a private room for the meeting, but it worked out.

We had a fun time also. I suspect today a few people have found some muscles groups that haven't been used for awhile. I know I do.

1/2 hour with ice packs on my neck last night prevented worse symptoms this morning...thumbsup

I'm ready to do it again.
