New location for Car Craft . . .

We knew they were leaving Minnesota but this is the first I've seen of where they will be in 2015..

The CCSN is heading to Wisconsin.

It will be interesting to read what (if any) comments are left at this Hot Rod site.

Actually, Car Craft is starting their own show and holding it on the same date. Family Events will still be running the same show here in St Paul, but with a different headlining sponsor.

Yes, I knew about the "replacement" show at our fairgrounds but I didn't know where CC was going. I am surprised that both events are on the same weekend. I would think that attendance at each show will be affected to some extent.

That's nice, they move the show more than 300 miles away to a different state and then use a pic from our state for their ad.

Blasphemy, I say...angry

And trying to keep the same weekend and compete with the St. Paul show. That makes absolutely no sense on a business level what so ever.cuckoo

My opinion, we should probably start enjoying this show as much as possible. I dont see it being sucessfull if they actually think that competing against each other is actually going to work out for them on a financial basis. 2 major, national event car shows within a days drive on the same weekend just makes no sense to me.

I'm tempted to go to Milwaukee... better venue, just farther away, and a city that will support the car-guy events rather than treat us like a nuisance.

Does anyone know what happened? Was there some fallout between CC and Family Events? Did the city or the fairgrounds F it up? Seems to me that there must be some lingering animosity given the shows will be on the same weekend.

Definitely seems like this will lower the amount of Wisconsin participants going to St. Paul, and will have an overall impact.  Maybe they thought they would pull more from the Chicago area with it being closer to Milwaukee?    headscratch

I would bet the attendance from the greater Chicago area could be huge.

They would probably bring some attendees from Indy as well with that location too.

In addition to the cars, the vendors will be split between the venues. My guess is that most of them will choose to go to Milwaukee. The vendors are an important attraction for a lot of people. Of course, the local vendors would probably stay here.

I wonder who was first to select the July dates and why the other one chose to hold their event the same weekend. Is someone trying to stick it to someone else?

My understanding is Car Craft parted ways from Family Events and have indeed struck out on their own with a show. Car Craft claims on their facebook page that they "Needed a bigger venue". Family events just replaced the title of the Car Craft show with a new one with a new headliner or whatever.

A bigger venue ?????  They only rent half of the fairgrounds and bring in 5-7 thousand cars. BTTF rents the whole thing and packs in 12 thousand. They could have put a LOT more cars in there.

It was an excuse to get out.

I don't plan on going to Milwaukee

ever

it's too far for me, plus the cost. I just can't swing it on my limited car budget.

Don't forget, Family Events isn't stupid and they promote farm more than this show and they don't do it for fun. It's their income being affected, so they are fully aware of how things will divide. This year will be a little odd, but bigger things will come next year. We WILL see a different media source for coverage.

That was the #1 comment I made and a lot of others made to their facebook posting as well Mitch. Bryan is right, it was purely an excuse instead of what is really going on behind the scenes.

My GUESS is that both Family Events and Car Craft had already made commitments to that date before they split.

Venues, sponsors, vendors, schedules, etc all have probably been in process a year or more in advance.

Rumor on Team Chevelle is that Family Events dropped the ball in a big way on the Power Tour last year, so they were essentially fired by Source Interlink from all of their magazine-sponsored events. I don't know if that's the cause, but Family Events is no longer doing the Power Tour either.

No, my recollection was that was done by Jack and Joyce DeJoy. They were our primary contacts. Though they might have been the on-site coordinators for Family Events.

Just got my registration email, and the price goes up from $40 to $45 after Jan. 31st (+ $3.50 registration fee), so get your registration now if you are going.

Street Machines registration link

I'm guessing most of us that went to CC, will go to this at least this year, then will see if they do it again next year?

Do we need the Thursday JD/Pushrod Chevelle Row corner saving team again this year?  I suggest we do it, as it will still probably be a good size turnout for those that don't want to drive to Milwaukee.

I almost forgot about the early bird registration cutoff for the Street Machine Nationals (formerly CC) yesterday, but remembered right before going to bed, so got it done for the $43.50 rate that is $48.50 today.  Anyone else get 'er done?

At least this year I have a reason to drag Tina to it... whenever I watch Detroit Muscle Car on Spike TV, she calls the younger guy on the show 'Goober' because of the way he talks.  Now I'll have to talk her into going up and asking for an autograph at the SMN show!  stirpot

Kinda on the fence right now. Not sure how I feel about the whole deal. I suppose it will be business as usual as far as the show goes. I hate change!
