Finally ending the week in Europe for business, so thought I'd bring you guys some culture.  laughing

I'm here for business this week, and on my last night (It's 11:35 P.M. EU time when posting this) before I return to the great white north.  It's been in the 50's here in southern France, so man it feels like Spring!

Did the whirlwind tour this week starting in Amsterdam, then to Brussels, then to Paris, and ended up in the middle of France at a diesel engine factory.  Flew back to Amsterdam tonight, and finally had decent internet and some time to check in.

I attached a few pics of flying into Amsterdam, the historic buildings in Brussels (I was told the Germans bombed everything but the steeple which they left for a reference point), Belgian beer, a French citadel castle, and the Swiss Alps from the Basel airport in France that I flew out of today.

My first time to Europe, and it's pretty cool and I certainly don't stand out like I do in Asia, so that's nice.  Doesn't hurt that I look like Van Gough when I'm in Amsterdam either!  laughing

Good to see they had the flaps extended for landing in the first pic...thumbsup

Cool buildings in Brussels. There are a few places I wouldn't mind visiting in Europe and that is one of them.

We were in FL for a few days and soaked up all the 70 and 80 degree weather we could. Didn't last long once we got back last night. 9 below zero again...rant2

Have a safe flight back. That's got to be one long and boring ride.

Stan I had to smile when I saw the windmill pic. Thats right by the runway in Amsterdam. I remember landing there and it was like landing in a farm field or something. I was like, "This is it
?" Glad you had fun! I bet your flying coach? That usually sucks. But at least its only 8.5 hours to Amsterdam or Paris.

Hi Stan, looks like a good trip, hope you will have a bit of free time to see more.
i was expecting to see a picture of the more modern "windmills", with dozens of the producing electricity in the sea. makes me wonder how they did the install and what it is line to service them.

Very cool, some people pay thousands of dollars to see what you are seeing, one day you need to take T along. I always felt my body clock reset quicker when returning from Europe than Asia.

Hurry home you need to get Old Blue ready for spring.

 HURRY ?????   With overnight temps at 15° below zero again next week, there is no hurry here. I hope this isn't an indication that the snow will still be here in May again...Imgonna

Yeah Bruce, when we were landing into Amsterdam, I saw those windmills out in the sea on the coastline.  It was impressive!  On the return trip today, I sat next to the Ops Director for the company that makes the big windmill blades for all the windmill farms like in southern MN/Northern IA, and he told me the ones on the sea are much larger, as in 180' long for each blade!  They are  made with a mold that is gel coated then fiberglassed, and then balsa wood is used.  Would be a cool process to watch.
