No more project cars for me!  I already have 2 that will take me a lifetime to finish at this rate.

Don't be tempting him, Stan. We need to have a "tech session" at his place next year and get that Chevelle on the road...thumbsup

That year Cutlass isn't my cup of tea, but it IS really clean for the age and mileage.

aside from the grille on most of them, I liked that chassis era. I had one with a stock 472 Caddy engine, TH400, and MOPAR 8-3/4 rear with 3.73s. was a fun sleeper. Didn't have the money for any engine upgrades at the time, but the suspension was rebuilt and upgraded and would have been a real blast to build knowing what I know now.

Oh man flashbacks...

I took my driver's license test in a near clone of that! Same blue, and the "whore's drawers" Brougham tufted/buttoned velour interior.

Are you THAT YOUNG ???  or did you get your license when you were 26 ??  By '79 I had been married for 7 years, owned a house and had a kid...along with a '70 SS 454 Chevelle I bought in '73...dunno

I must be OLD.

I took my test in an 85 Honda CRX-si. I could have perpendicular parked that thing it was so short, or gone 3 in the same space legally.

I passed my test in a 1982 Cutlass Cruiser wagon.  I had my own hand-me-down car that was a 77 Corolla SR5 hatchback but my Dad didn't ever have me practice driving in that car because he didn't want to be seen in a foreign car.  He even hated having it in the driveway.  It was a great first car easy on gas, cheap tires, never had much for mechanical problems except replaced the carb.  Then I had gas guzzlers 76 Camaro, 77 Malibu wagon, 72 Delta 88, 67 Malibu as my drivers.
