I will probably meet the group at Red Wing.

As a side note Chad you may want to consider going down 52 to Cannon Falls, then  to Red Wing on hwy 19 (not a bump in the road and a nice drive) as opposed to hwy 50 to hwy 61 (worse stretch of road in Goodhue county) to Red Wing.

Tina and I drove this over Labor Day weekend, and no issues other than some bridge construction in Cannon Falls where the 'Bump' signs were for real at the edges of the bridges.  Hoping that will be done by the end of the month.

Otherwise, don't forget....

RSVP by September 27, 2013 to chad.linkert@northstarchevelles.com

Stan and Chad, are you considering changing the route  to  taking hwy 52  to Cannon Falls, then hwy 19 to Red Wing?

Sorry I wasn't clear... Tina and I tool 19 to Red Wing, and as I mentioned it was fine other than the bridge construction in Cannon Falls with the bumps on and off the bridges through town.

Stan and Chad, not trying to change the route.  I will join the group in Lake City or Wabasha.  I will drive the route from Lake city, to Wabasha, to Nelson, to Pepin, to Scockholm to Prescott, to Hasting.

If you want I am taking Rachael to the Airport next Friday and can drive from Lake City to MSP an route you guys decide on.

Chad and Stan,  I drove the route from just  north of Hastings to Prescott, to Nelson, to Wabasha, to lake city on the way back from duck hunting on Monday.  No problems.  The was a stretch of about 100 yds, on the south edge of Stockholm that they were working on ( digging up old pavement and I assume replacing it pretty soon).  I wouldn't think this is going to be a problem.

Today I drove to the airport to pick up Rachael. On the way up, I  took 61 from  Lake city to Red Wing, to Miesville, then 50 to 52 at Hampton and then 52 north.  On the way back we took 52 south to Cannon falls, then 19 to just north of red wing and on the lake city.  This is a much better road.  Instead of  taking the  Cannon Falls exit, I took  Dakota hwy 86 exit, north of Cannon ( by the Western Saddle Shop), it goes right into  downtown Cannon Falls , and it intersects with i MN 19 at a stop light  in the middle of the town.  No bridge work and good road.  You might want to re group at the Veterns Memorial Park, just before the Cannon River bridge  or at the Cannon high school parking lot just on the east edge of town if you go this way.

Any idea of where you plan to stop and eat?

Thanks Jim for pre-driving the routes.  That helps.

Chad has a spot in mind to stop for lunch, but he'll need to post exactly where that is.

The lunch spot is at Covill Park by the river in Redwing.  And just in case you guy's have not noticed, my wife Shawna has fixed the directions for map quest. So far 10 cars. I am expecting 4 or 5 more.

All,

It looks like Lisa & I will not be able to make this year.  I have a work conference that requires me to leave on Saturday.  I have not missed one since I completed the car, so really bums me out.  Look forward to seeing the pictures.

I have the day set aside but it is weather dependant. I don't enjoy driving my car in the rain with a couple leaks and only 1 wiper...doh

Well, the weather forecast has taken a turn for the worse. I was okay with the cold. Cold AND rain? Not so much.

Chad...Can we move this to Sunday? The weather is 0% chance of rain. I agree with Keith. Cold, fine. Rain, sucks to drive any car in...If we cannot move it I am out...

We got caught in the rain one year;  I remember Mitch having to pull over and install his wiper blade, yep just one.  I guess if you have wipers and the heater works it might work,  I’m not so sure about a picnic in the rain at 55* however.

I'm waiting a couple days to see where this goes, (the weather). Too often in the past, the front slows down or speeds up and the rain moves to different day.

Unfortunately for the Camaro Club, the forecast was spot on for last Saturday and we had a short, wet, cold car show at Merit Chev.

It depends on which forecast you look at too. The National weather service has a 30% chance, the weather channel shows 50%.

It's not fair to put all the stress on Chad to make this decision.  It will be decided by the Officers.  I'll send out an email to the Officers with thoughts on plan B, and we will update the forum and send out a club email to keep everyone informed.

The good news is that Chad mentioned to me last night that he has 14 confirmed cars (includes some non-Chevelles) with a few more on the fence, so the potential for a large cruise is good!

I'm with Mitch that we will need to check the forecast again Wednesday to get a better feel how it looks.  It seems to all be about how fast the cold front is going to move through.

Ok guys it looks like the weather Is going to suck, I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go. But it would not be the first time they've been wrong. Lets see what they say on wed. Stay tuned. Just so you know 15 cars include, chad shawna, Stan Tina , Kevin Angie , Tom Elizabeth , Craig Tammy , Scott friend , Tim Nicky , James , Steve , Keith Judy , Chris , Steven dad , Cheryl Bruce , Jon Bonnie , Chris, Michele DJ,and 3 more not confirmed. If its to cold and not wet I could find a place that takes reservations . Lets see on wed.

One would think that over the period of a year I would remember to get another wiper arm but, alas, it was not to be....rolleyes

I do have a good heater in the '66, so cool temps wouldn't be a deal breaker. I'll try to remember to bring my Sorel's and a winter coat for Hastings.

Had the opportunity to take a quick cruise in this 33 Plymouth Sunday as we went to dinner with some friends. What a blast, sitting in the back seat there is four feet of leg room. I’ll ask if he’s interested in joining us on the cruise.

Well, since it looks like I'm not able to make plan B next week, Cheryl and i reverted to the Sunday version of plan A. it was a nice drive except for two minor issues
- 1 apparently when i was fixing my speedometer i did something to mess up my gas gauge. Just a bout the time i started to wonder why it was not dropping very fast, i ran out of gas. Thanks to a good Samaritan who gave me a lift and some creativity on a "non-approved" gas can we were back on the road quickly
- 2 the weather held until we crossed over in Prescott, and then rained quite a bit for 20 minutes or so.
hope you have dry driving next week if it is a go.
