Need help on wheel fitment. Derek? Scott?

I am maybe looking at some rims for my Chevelle.  Would these work or do you have a resource to help me investigate?

 

20X8.5

OFFSET +13

HUB 74.2

BOLT PATTERN 5X115/120

The bolt-pattern is "close" but not exact.

4.75 inches = 120.65mm

Some guys run them and claim no problems, but you'd definitely want hub-centering rings to be sure you get the wheel centered on the hub. I don't know off the top of my head what the hub dimensions are for a Chevelle though.

The +13mm offset should work just fine, but may require a spacer to make the wheel look centered, and not tucked in too far. That works out to about 5" backspace.

Thanks Derek,

Spacers make me really nervous as I had them once on my Chevelle and it sheered off the bolts while driving!! Won't go there again...Sounds like these may not work...

Those almost sounds like a BMW type wheel size. That size wheel could look good on the rear with the right stance. Like the white car you built a few years ago. That car had a nice stance to it. 18s in the front and 20's in the back is becoming very popular right now and looks really nice with the right stance.

Ya that's a "German" bolt pattern designed to fit BMW/ Audi/Benz.

4.5 backpacking is a safe bet with our cars, as are 8-inch wide wheels. Any more of either requires measurements...


All 4 of mine are 17x8 with 4.5 inch back spacing. I run different tires front and rear on identical wheels. Not the biggest that could fit, but no issues either.

I'm debating on different wheels too.  I don't know if you've heard of JD wheels, but they've been about the cheapest I've found. http://jdwheels.com/

I don't think I want to go all the way to 20's, and the tire selection for 17's seems limited so I'll probably end up with 18's.  I've been considering the Boss 338's in Gray

 A mini-lite style. Jesse in the Camaro Club had a set but they are vintage originals and I think he wanted a small mint for them.

Steve really like that look. Will look great on your car. I like the bigger wheels for me...Its a West Coast thing. Some people hate them. But if all our cars were the same it would be pretty damm boring!!

On my 74 Camaro, I ran 15s in the back and 14s in the front, all 4 were ARE Outlaw wheels. With the wedge shape of the car and the tire size difference, it added a little more to the raked look without getting too crazy.

I really want to put some different rims on the camaro but I just can't stomach the $1200 bucks just for the rims. I have not found any place that sells them any cheaper.

I agree 100% Tom, your cars always end up looking good.  Buy what you like!

 

I really want to put some different rims on the camaro but I just can't stomach the $1200 bucks just for the rims. I have not found any place that sells them any cheaper.

That's another thing that I like about the Gray Boss 338's.  18x8's are $660 a set and 18x9.5's  are $700.  I still haven't been able to justify another $700 for the car, but they are cheaper than some.

 I have less than $1200 in my complete wheel and tire package on the '38.

Some of the combo's in steve's link are $1200.

Chris P is looking for a fairly specific set, same ones I want more or less. I also can't stomach the cost. I've laid down too much for my car already this spring.....
