I will say that the woman who sold me my Chevelle also had a 65 Mustang, but she parked mine to drive that one.

I'm can honestly say I'm no longer a Mustang owner (Sorry Kevin, Joh H., and Mike...). It became a casualty of buying the Chevelle I traded this summer.

I know of 5 of us in the club that have a Mustang and there might even be more. Kevin, Jon, Dan, Rick and myself. Dan's is oldest of that group but none or them are "classics". Maybe I should add it to my toy/project list on my signature since I am storing it for the winter.

I do but it's not much to look at. Just a shell that I hope to make into a street rod some day. Has been in the family since 1969. No rust holes except around the bolts on the running boards. Plan on updating the suspension, drivetrain, and interior but leave the exterior looking very original. Current dream is LS powered with auto tran with A/C. Mustang II front and 9 inch rear with 4 wheel DB. Would like to find some leather buckets out of a Caddy or Buick with the integral shoulder belts. Exterior will be Meadow green and the trim will be vanilla/cream colored very similar to original in appearance.

Mike, you should keep it Ford powered... I'll sell you the drivetrain out of a late model V8 Mustang real cheap.

Don't give him anymore ideas Derek, I'm still trying to get him to get that chevelle of his running.

Don't make it TOO cheap. You'll still have to transplant an LS1 back in so the owner knows what REAL power feels like....

You must be too old to remember that the Camaro was the pace car the first year it was introduced in 1967 as well as 1969. A Torino was the '68 pace car and an Olds 442 convert in '70. I don't see the Mustang listed as a pace car again for many years. The Camaro was also the pace car in '82, '93, and for the '02 Brickyard 400. So, who was playing catch up ??? When the Camaro came roaring back to life in 2009, it was the pace car that year too. Since then Mustang sales were reduced so drastically, that the factory cut workers and hours to slow down the production to match the sagging sales...

Definitely finishing the Chevelle before even considering working on the 47 truck. That means it will be a few years before I need to worry about it.

Here are a few pictures I took the day I brought it back from Wisconsin where it was. I got it from my Step-Father who bought it back in 1969. He lost the storage for it when his friend sold his place and decided that was a good time to let it go to me. The other one in the last picture he still has and I went for a ride in it last month.

Wow Mike, if another plan of mine had come together, I'd be begging you to sell that to me...

I tried for over a year to buy this thing...

I thought if I could get it, I'd build a small trailer and look for a patina'd old Ford truck to tow it around with.

Good to see there are younger gear heads to carry on when us "older" addicts can't get around anymore. If my son still isn't intersted in my "collection" in 10 years, I may consider passing a couple to your boys for safe keeping...
Now, get that Malibu done so you can move on to your next "someday" project...

Last I talked to him, his son wanted it.

It moved from that location around Thanksgiving... I don't know if his son got it or if they just put it inside. I doubt it got scrapped, as there's still a lot of other junk sitting around there.

When my boys start collecting projects, I'm going to need to build a pole shed. :)

I hope I don't need THAT MUCH more space... When my Dad quit farming he had an auction to sell off all his equipment in November of '98. By May of '99 we had dragged enough projects home to fill his 50x100 shed with junk. We had about 30 cars in there, and the most valuable thing that shed was the lawnmower.

Exactly my point.....60x120 isn't that much bigger and you KNOW you'll need the space....heck, just as winter storage rental if you can't fill it with your own "stuff"....
