This is a "done" car....

I was looking at a Blue on Blue model at the show last week. They guy asked if I wanted it and I told him I wanted a different color but doubted he had it. I asked if he had any in Aztec Bronze and to my astonishment he said he had 2 at home. I even clarified that it was Bronze not Burgundy and he said yes. I paid him and had a friend who lives near him pick it up and drop it off here. This is the color I want mine to be someday. The model is metal and quite heavy. Very detailed too. All the instruments on the dash can be read and look at the hood hinges. They even have tiny coil springs !!! The sun made the "poly" pop a little too much. It really looks like the real thing in person.

The guy that was there had cars from his personal collection going back 17 years. He claims he kept at least one of EVERY car they have ever handled !!! His basement was overflowing so he brought a bunch of older cars to the show. The box has a date of 2007 and the brand is RC2 out of Dyersville IA. Officially GM licensed "American Muscle Authentics" series. There is a sticker on the box identifying it as a Limited Edition...1 of 612 made.

Looking at it sitting on my desk makes me want mine painted soooooooo badly.....banghead  I need to drop it off at Tim's place in a couple months and write a fat check next spring. THEN it will get done...thumbsup

Yep, if it's Dyersville, that's Ertl.  I met Mr. Ertl last Fall at a casting conference in Ohio.  Nice old gentleman.  He even sent me a book of the history of Ertl toys and all the tractor models they have made over time.

So... Pops is going to do a buff-n-shine on yours this winter?  I guess he doesn't feel busy unless he has at least 2 cars in process in his shop!  razz

Um, no, we haven't discussed it....yet. I was just referring to what it will take to get it done.

Let's see a blue vert, a 66 velle, a 66 Impala, a 70 and I am now thinking about buying a vert myself.. That may be enough for a couple of months.

Time to sell the 69 COPO.  I need the space

RC2 is ertl's old "Racing Champions" line, not sure why they renamed it.

Believe it or not, there's 3 different toy companies in Dyersville... Ertl, Scale Models, and SpecCast.

A few years ago we did some work for Dyersville Diecast, the non-toy end of Scale Models, and it was owned by an Ertl too. I thought I remember Ertl being sold and one of the son's starting up Scale Models?

Joseph Ertl owns Scale Models... somewhere in one of my boxes I haven't yet unpacked is a 1/64 CASE steam engine autographed by him.

Yeah, I'm a farm toy geek...

I can't afford that car done, let alone as a project.

The bottom of the model box does have www.RCERTL.com
