Picked up the new 1500 yesterday. Aboslutley hate the manual dimming mirror. I new the truck had the non power folding non blinking outside mirrors; but didn't realize the also subsituted a manual inside rearview mirror.
I was thinking that maybe a salvage mirror out of a previous year would work. Anyone know the answer to that?
I guess you can only get the self-dimming inside and power folding outside mirrors if you get the LYZ. Why do I need these adjustable pedals? Thanks,
There is a lot of good info on Google on this. One of the Chevy truck forums im on had a pretty extensive post (over 19 pages) on doing this exact same thing. I can post the link for you but its one of those forums you have to sign up for to read it. Unless your already a member of FSC.

While you guys were busy arguing about the glass of water. I drank it!
Thanks for the information. Chris, What forum is that? I signed up for one this morning; but not sure if it would be the one.
Bigger problems. After doing this post this morning I sent out to check how the rear sensors worked. And for the second time in 8 days, I busted the passenger side outside Mirror. The misshap last Monday cost me $350 on the trade in. This is a much cheaper mirror $135. But now I have to figure out if I can install it. Looks like I have to take the door panel off or pay the shop installation fee. If so it looks like a total of $200.
I think it’s time you post a picture of this attack garage door you have.
My 2000 K1500 has folding mirrors and that has saved me a couple times over the years. I have the auto dimming interior mirror and HATE it. Mine is too dark during the day and the lights following are still too bright at night. I would miss my compass and temp though. The rental car in Orlando didn't have a compus and I was wishing it did quite a few times.
After reading on some of the silverado forums, it seems there is a lot of problems with the self dimming mirror. So it looks like I will keep the flipper mirror, since I am replacing the outside rear view mirror this week.
Miss the compass and temp gauge in the rear view mirror. But at least I have it in the drivers information center of the dash.
