I can't find my list of bell housing numbers that will accommodate an 11" clutch. I am making a list of things I'd like to do to my Camaro this winter and realized i used the bell housing i had in the Chevelle. I need another one and there are a couple alternatives to the expensive 621.
Thanks, Steve. I eventually came up with the first three but I didn't know about the last 2 for 11". Wish I had known about the spacer before I gave away the truck bell with the larger hole that came in my '66 when I replaced it with the 697 I had.
almost positive the bellhousings are discontinued, but some forks and clutch balls are still available from GM. FYI
Been reading about the repro ones. Seems there may be 2 on the market now; the keisler HD and an exact copy with just aluminum material. Very tempting to buy new at about the same cost as a "vintage" used with possible problems.

Confirmed on the clutch ball. Two years ago I walked into Grossman Chev in Burnsville, told them what I needed, he went to the shelf and I bought it. I wished they were still around...

Thought I read somewhere the Keister was a special titanium/ aluminum alloy and therefore stronger.
Mitch might need the stronger Keister if he keeps binging home new projects!

I know there are two repops of the 621 bell. One version is an exact copy with the casting number and the other doesn't have a casting number and is made a little thicker and stronger, it's also a little heavier. Don't know who makes either one.

Keisler makes the heavier one with the titanium alloy. As Mike refers to above, I would look for that one for more protection from impact...
What about a steel blowproof "Lakewood" style bell? These are pretty plentifull and you can usually find one at a swap pretty cheap. Also keeps you from getting a "Garlits" foot.

I have one of the 2 pivot balls and typically have a fork, at least those are for a 66 w/BBC. I might just even still have a GM Perf clutch on the shelf too.... would have to check the number vs the size.

I got a clutch fork for mine a couple of years ago (#3892632) Had to search around but found one at the Chevy dealership on the corner of 35 and 494. At the time, there were only a handfull of dealerships in the state that had one.

I've read a number of stories about the older steel bells needing offset dowel pins to center the shaft/collar correctly and don't want to get involved with all that. The reviews on the new Keislers is very good with their claim of .003 runout being accurate.
I had a disc partially explode in my '70 Chevelle in the mid 70's at Northstar dragstrip. It nearly cut the aluminum bell in half and a piece punctured the floor under the throttle pedal. I managed to drive it home to Anoka at slow speed on backroads. Wish I still had the disc and bell for "garage art"...
Bryan, any chance you could bring a Keilser in thru the dealership at an attractive price ?
