Just got hosed by CPP

Back before Christmas, CPP sent me an email for 10% off anything they sold. I ordered a complete front disc conversion. Took them a week to even acknowledge the order and then didn't give a shipping cost. I called and asked what it would be and was told they wouldn't know until it was boxed up. I asked them to call before shipping to get my authorization. I got a notice today that they finally shipped it and the shipping cost $140.63 !!!! There's NO WAY I would've authorized that order to be shipped at that cost and sent a nasty email right back saying so. I will be calling my cc and contesting the charge unless they want to be reasonable.

Maybe money grows on trees in CA but I don't have a money tree in my yard.

Did you put it on a credit card? I would consider contesting the charges with the CC company and tell CPP your sending the stuff back at THIER cost.

Just reject it when it shows up at your door so it goes right back to them. Then stop payment on your card and buy it from somewhere else.

That would be easy if they sent it signature required. If it shows up without a signature, it will be more difficult. CPP will have to arrange with the carrier to pick it up again. They didn't even tell me who they shipped it with or a tracking number. Not a very purchaser friendly way to do business.

I would be very surprised for the amount of money that they would leave it without a signature.

That's what I'm hoping. If I get a slip to call for a delivery, I'll tell them to return it.

Actually not sure how they shipped it but if UPS you can take it to UPS and tell them you are refusing the package, worng item or you have to cancel. They will ship it back free of charge as long as you do not open the box or tamper with it. I have done it many time with NO issues.
I believe USPO and Fed Ex are the same way. I would call shipper now especailly if you have a tracking number and tell them to the situation and that they can just send it back without wasting their time delivering it. They may appreciate it before wasting their time and effort.

WOW very surprised by the bad service from cpp. Too bad, I thought they were very easy to deal with, I purchased the complete 4-wheel disc conversion w/power brake booster. John D and I installed every thing in I believe about 12 hours, that included a complete front end rebuild kit and installing front coils with no engine or front sheetmetal on the car (that was fun) and not one trip to parts or hardware stores. I did have  problems with the right rear caliper mounting bracket and the final adjustment of the parking brake lever but they helped rectify the situation in a timely manner. Makes me wonder whats going on in the shipping dept.

Do you recall the shipping cost for that ?

I got the booster and master as well. They claim the total weight is 125lbs. Fed Ex is scheduled to deliver it tomorrow and wanted to know if anyone would be here to sign for it. I called CPP and told them I was sending it back and expected a full refund on my cc or I would contest it. They are "looking into" seeing if they can reduce the cost of the shipping to something I feel is reasonable.  Should know in the next hour or so...

Just for kicks, I sent an email on yesterday asking for a shipping estimate. Got a reply back today.

Good Morning,

UPS published rates to your area shows approx $149.50. This rate can change on a daily basis depending on what they show.

Thanks and please feel free to email or call with any questions.

Maybe you got an irresponsible sales agent?

I don't know, they just kept telling me today that they have no way to give an estimate. Seems you have the evidence to prove that wrong.

They called back a bit ago and offered me a $50 IN STORE credit for my next purchase.....I just laughed. I told them it wasn't going to happen, as I don't intend to ever do business with them again. They then offed the $50 as a refund to my cc if I would keep the shipment. I finally agreed although that's still $90 in shipping. REALLY wish I would've checked with In-Line Tube first. I've bought a lot of brake products from them in the past and have been very happy with the cost and service. They do offer the same package as CPP at about the same price.

My first ebay purchase was a $25 set of speaker for the PC. I had never bought before so I was unaware of the shipping costs they can charge. Oh yea baby I did not get a kiss or a drop of lube on that deal. My cheap speakers I told my wife about cost me $50 in shipping and they came USPS with the price of $4.95 on the postage sticker so she knew not to ever say anything about that wound.

Usually, its the shippers that dictate the cost of shipping and businesses have no choice but to charge outragous prices to ship it. With the cost of gas going up, the shipping industry has no choice but to follow suit because of it. Lately, the parts I have been pricing out have been locally instead of through mail order. Accept for maybe Summit Racing. Dealing with crap like this just isnt worth it if I can find it locally. Even after shipping, its still cheaper around here.
