Barn finds

So my neighbor has been saying his brother in law has all these cars stashed in barns for years. Well I finially got the chance to go walk through them today. Here are some pictures of a few of the cars. Most of it was of no interest to me but I know you guys will like one of them for sure.

Yes it is a 1970 convert ss but only a 396 car not a 454. The hood hinges were stuck so I could not get the hood open but I suspect the original engine is in there. But of course the car is not for sale. It is being stored there and was not owned by the brother in law.

Here are some other ones I took pictures of that I thought were worth while.

The vega had a V8 in it and must have had a tunnel ram on it at some point with the big hole in the hood.

This 66 impala convert was just a small block powerglide car but supposed to have only 11,000 original miles on it.

WOW!  I guess barn finds really are still out there.  Those cars look like they have decades of dust on them!

Chris-Is the Chevelle green?  Hard to tell with all the 'patina'.

Was in a similar barn a couple of years agso. Contained a 67 4 dr chevelle and a 67 chevelle ss that looked to be in the same condition. What about the VW bus, might it be for sale, or the 66 convert?

The El Camino I parted out was a similar barn find.  Had been sitting in there since 1987.  The guy had 6 more cars in the building after the 2 we bought.  Everything else was pretty much from the 20's and 4 of them were going 1 each to his 4 kids.  One of the other two was a 20's Chevy sedan that was all there but falling apart.  He wanted about $500 for it.  Would make a good parts car but that was about it.  Still waiting to hear if he is ready to part with the other and at what price.  Wouldn't mind getting that one either.

Gotta say... as I've mentioned before, not a green fan, but that green with the white interior and white convertible top are a great combo!  In the early 80's, one of our local mechanics where I lived had a '72 SS Chevelle sbc coupe in this color combo with Cragar SS', and it was way cool.

It just kills me to see those cars rotting away though.  rant2  Especially with all the corrosive bird droppings, mouse nests, and such...  I think those kind of people have that 'some day' mentality, but I don't understand it because when some day comes (if it ever does...), they have a pile of junk from all the storage damage over the years.  I guess I just don't understand that kind of mentality...  headscratch

Chris, what is the other convert next to the Impala?

I think it was a ford of some sort.

Did you happen to notice what the last year the plates were registered on the Chevelle? I'm curious how long it's been sitting.

And... did you happen to look at the odometer?  I'm curious how many miles it shows.

I did not go over it to much after the brother in law told me a story of how someone who had been there tracked the owner down and went to his house and hounded him about selling it. It made the owner of the car very mad from what the brother in law told me. So after that a just snapped a couple pictures to tease all you guys and moved on.

Jim most of the cars I believe are for sale, but the brother in law knows they are worth something. So I don't know that anything is going to be for a steal of a price.
