Thanks Tony!  I plan on doing it again if I can borrow someone's slicks for a couple of runs so that I don't sit-n-spin...

Chad, let's get this on the club event schedule/forum calendar!  thumbsup

I sent 2 email questions last year and never got a response. Probably best to keep calling until someone answers.

We had a good day last June with several members bringing their cars out. I went twice after that too.

Don't get frustrated with them, it's a very small production as far as the web and email side. It's also off season for them.

I might be in for this year. I don't like driving it there, especially after the malfunction I had before and the fact that I have a set of almost used up slicks I would like to kill. It sucks not owning a truck let alone a trailer.

Went a couple times on Muscle car days (once with the club and a couple without) never been to a car club day. We need to get a grudge/challenge going with another club : ) I think May 12 with a rain date of June 17. Last year the wheather was terrible in May. I had to rent a trailer from U-haul my trailer was tied up. On a personal note look at Cedar Falls too. If anyone just wants to race and have fun it is a great track. They have a better track and better price, but longer drive especially for the members in the Twin Cities : (

Jennifer returned my emails and calls. I had a ton of questions especially concerning taking my 10 year son there.

No problem with him being at the track but he can't ride in the car. My son turns 16 this year and I think he can ride along with a helmet.

I'll be trying to get the Camaro club to go too and race against the Chevelles. I may have one of each there...cool

One of each wow choices : ) That would be cool if they come too. Perhaps we should ask them at the Bowtie lunch meeting. last time at teh muscle car event there were a couple Impalas there too not sure if there were in the Imapa club. I could not believe that 60 Imapla that was there the last time, nice bright red and it launched nice and hard. Looked like it was original right from the 60s.
That is true 16yr can ride got to keep the time above 14 sec.

I'm into it.

I've got a pair of slicks all mounted up that won't fit under my wagon. Surely someone can benefit from them for a day. The tires came off Tony's car and the wheels are Weld 15s I used to have under my '65 LeMans....so they're sure to fit someone's car. Just not mine.

I've got a nitrous system to test! I just got the pressure-referenced bottle heater setup I wanted, so bottle pressure will stay consistent from run-to-run.

I might have some stickier tires by then too. And a new clutch. Maybe some other goodies too. We'll see.

But ya- I'll go!

Some of the guys were interested in a hotel near Rockfalls Raceway. The Metropolis is the one that was recommended. The link for the hotel is below.

I'm not sure about going May 12th. It's also All High School Day. Might be a lot of kids and rice burners there.

They were there last year. From what I remember it was a lot of "Auto Service" programs, that campaign a car, with a bunch of the students as crew. There were a few individuals too.

We get there early like last time, and you can still make as many runs as fast as you can circle back and get in line.

I'm out. Clutch is shot and I've got some other issues to attend to before the wagon will see the strip. Line-Loc has to go in too, so I don't have to do 2nd gear burnouts anymore...which helped burn up the clutch. Anyway- I probably won't be ready yet.

I did NOTHING to any of mine over the winter. I'm doing rust bomb restoration as a full time job now and have no ambition to tear mine apart on the weekends.

Tony is good with that plan last we communicated. I'm not going to make it. Too much going on this week and weekend. Sorry about that. Was looking forward to it.

Is this event like the Muscle Car event where we Test and tune til about 1P then race in brackets 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 13, 13.5, 14 etc ?

May 12 -- Sat. Fun Race, All High School Challenge Race & All Car Club Race

I also see they are having Fun Race the same day race for money or trophy what is that all about ? Is this all integrated together ?

"Fun Races are Open to ALL Racers (except those with electronics which includes a delay box, throttle stops or stutter boxes.)

Can't decide if you want to race for the money or for the trophy - well we're not going to make it any easier for you by giving you two separate entry fees. Its just $40 to race no matter which one you choose - its all the same price. No electronic gadgets are allowed in any class.

If you race for money the payout is $250 to Win, $100 to Runner-Up and $50 to Semi-Finalist(s) in our Pro ET Eliminator category.   If the 1st round entries exceed 65 or more payout increases to $400/Win, $175/RU and $75/Semis.  If you decide to race for a trophy in either Street Eliminator or King of the Hill, just win 2 rounds and win a trophy. Finally, for the not so lucky racers who lose either 1st or 2nd round of either trophy class or the money class we give you another chance to win some cash and the entry is Free!!  Our Consolation Race pays $100 to Win and $50 to the Runner Up.

So... whether you race for money or for trophies, come on out to the Rock and have some fun at one of our Rock Falls Raceway Fun Races."

It will be nice to see some Camero's there : )

IIRC The car club people can just hotlap all day if you want.. But once eliminations start you might have to wait for runoffs to do another time shot .. or you can choose to dial in and race against other car clubs...

Tony now I am really confused ???

For the car club event do we "Choose dial in" as in write on window your exact dial in on window "true bracket racing" and tree set accordingly
or do they put us in time slots like muscle car days where they had .5s slots from ie 10-14sec ?
what is IIRC ?
Only ever did muscle car events at RF so that is all I know curious if this is a different venue for the "eliminations" ?
They mention Street Eliminator or King of the Hill for the Fun Race which bracket cars in 2 different categories
Street Eliminator = 13 or slower
King of Hill = 12.99-9.99s
and this is a true bracket race event.
I ask as my reaction time and ETs are terrible all over the place : ) once I was under my dial in time by only 0.01s which I thought was pretty good, but still loss because my RT sucked : ( Need MORE practice : )

Going straight to the tack meeting Steve S in Wabasha. If anyone else wants to meet up with us coming from South of the cities please PM.

Also got this in from the tack

Thanks for your email.  This is not really the same venue as the Muscle Car Day but kind of.  We run open time trials in the morning from 9 to approx 1 p.m. and then we do eliminations.

ALL eliminations are run with the bracket dial-in format.  No 1/2 second indexes.  The Fun Race is for Money or Trophies (Pro ET, King of the Hill 9.00 to 12.99, or Street Eliminator 13.00 and slower).  The High School Race is for High School Kids only.  The ALL Car Club race is for those who are in car clubs and want to come out and see how their cars run in the 1/4 mile and then some friendly competition between the clubs.  Again, all eliminations are dial-in.

Hope to see you tomorrow.  Should be a nice day for racing!!  Any other questions, please let me know.  Thanks.

Jennifer L. Anderson, Track Manager
Rock Falls Raceway

So dial the car in and be consistant.

One thing I messed up on when I was there: after a hot day and some frustration and looking at everyone elses 14.xx times they had on thier cars, I put 14.70 on mine thinking it was safe since it was about .05 faster than my best run, though I was creeping faster each run. Unfortunately, I meant to write 13.70. Had I done it correctly, I would hvae been in the money and maybe even running against big T for a trophy.

pay attention, eat, drink fluids, and remember, only us special people get idle speed parade laps down the track. Maybe it was due to me bringing the whole club day idea to Jennifer, maybe it was the broken throttle cable, I forget.
