Welding tank Size for MIG 40 vs 80 which one would you get ??

Looking at tanks for anticipate Hobart 140 MIG Christmass Pressent. The tanks are Local MWS store has lifetime tank ownership exchange program. Currently running a deal your 1st fill is 1/2 off.

40ft^3 $120 then 37.59 per fill

80ft^3 $140 then 47.35 per fill

on the surface the 80ft^3 looks like a better deal. Is it practical and mobile enough.

Questions :

1) What size tank do you have and why did you go that route ?

2) How many hours of welding can one anticipate form a 40ft^3 tank ?

3) I have not seen the actual tanks in person how much more bulk for transport, mobility, ease of use is the 80ft^3 vs 40ft^3 ?

thanks

Tanks onlly get filled to 80% and once you start welding gas goes fast. I say go big. Once home make the cart to move it around.

I have the smaller tank I typically only fill it about once a year.  I could not really tell you how many hours of welding it is to deplete it though.

I would think the first thing to decide is how much welding your going to do with it.

Go with the 80 its not bulky at all, but taller- more gas, more welding- nothing like trying to find gas on a sunday when you run out!whew

I think I have the 40lb tank. It is about 3 ft tall. Last winter I took on a production job where I put 5 welds 3/8th inch long on 385 pieces. I burned thru an 8 inch spool of wire and didn't run out of gas. I don't see using that much wire on ALL the panels I need to replace on 5 cars. I doubt you would need the 80 lb tank or run out of gas any time soon.

I got mine from MWS too as well as my oxy/acetylene set-up. Now that I have the larger tanks for, as I use that with a rosebud tip to heat things and cut thick metal with the torch on my mowing tractor.
