I'm still looking hard at taking the Chevelle back to the Rock one last time this year. I'm pretty condifant I can make a full pass with all 4 barrels this time. I still need to find time to get a pair of wheels from Daren for the slicks.

Anyone else game to go ??

Here's the page on fun races.  http://www.rockfallsraceway.com/funraces.shtml

and some more:

Our $40 Fun Days allow you to race for either money or trophies for the same price. No electronic gadgets allowed in any class. In the trophy classes (Street Eliminator for vehicles 13.00 and slower or King of the Hill for vehicles 9.00 to 12.99), win 2 rds and you win a trophy. The payout for the money class is $250 to Win, $100 RU and $50 Semi in Sportsman Eliminator.  A Free Consolation Race will also be run (for 1st and 2nd rd losers of either the money or trophy classes) which pays $100/Win and $50/RU, final 4 racers receive trophies.

I hear ya on the weather. That is the biggest factor for me right now too. Sounds like it could be crowded that day, if the weather is nice.

Looks like the forecast is holding for decent weather. I got a pair of wheels from Darren for my RaceMasters last night but couldn't get them mounted tonight. I may try to mount them myself and have them balanced before Saturday.

We will not be able to go tomorrow. JJ went into the hospital last night at 2AM Asthma related we think. He could not breath well at all. They still have him today and he is marginal and they still have no real answers.

Sorry to hear about your son. Stay with him and keep pushing for answers. There'll be next year to race.

I got the slicks mounted and balanced last night along with getting a trailer again. I'm all loaded up and ready to hit the road at 6:00 am. Hopefully things will go better this time and I'll feel like taking some pics. I was a little grumpy last time and didn't even take the camera out of the truck.

Just got home. I didn't have time to stay for eliminations and there were a LOT of cars anyway. I got 6 passes during the time trials before it got to be too long of a wait. I really didn't know what to expect for times and was hoping for low 15's. After I played with the slicks on the back road and adjusted air pressure I went out and clicked off a 14.14. I figured I might sneak into the very high 13's but unfortunately, I never matched the first round time again...confused My reaction time was too slow and it may be from the slicks taking a bit to react. I kept trying to cut the light closer until I pulled a Red one. Then I went back into slow mode of mostly .330-.390. All in all, I was very pleased that it ran hard all the way down the track. Lots of torque from the smog engine but not many horses at the top. I was shifting at 5k, as there really wasn't anything beyond that. I'm already looking forward to next year with better heads and intake manifold...nana

Very nice Mitch!

Are you running a stock GM smog motor intake?  I have an Edelbrock 2.0 on mine, and Competition Engines told me between that intake and the stock exhaust manifolds, I'm probably losing 40-50 HP.  I want to switch to a Performer RPM, but need to get dimensions to see if it will still fit and be able to use the cowl induction.  It's a tight fight with the 2.0 as it is.

I'm still on the hunt for some slicks for next year's club drag racing.  I'd like to break 14 seconds!  That would be a 1 sec improvement from what it did in May with NO traction.  Kind of like this emoticon... gearbanger       laughing

Ok Mitch now it can be that battle of the 66's. Your big block 4 speed against my small block 4 speed. Next year I hope we can run against each other and have some fun.

Looking forward to that...nana

Stan, I have a stock '69 390hp 427 cast iron intake for a Q-Jet. The adaptor for the Holley isn't the best for flow. I have a old school Torker II I can put on. I didn't do that last winter, as it is an open plenum and this motor will never use it with the peanut port heads. If I can find a good deal on a Performer over the next several months, I may pick it up, as I would prefer a dual plane intake for street driving.

Kevin, I felt like the car had really done well on the first pass and you should've seen the grin when I picked up the time ticket...cool I was like a kid with his first train set. I just kept going back in line and doing it again.

Time for a few pics. I got there at 7:35 and was the first one in line. I was wondering if it had been cancelled. About 7:53 they started streaming in and didn't stop for the next 2 hours !!! It was 23° at 8:00 when they opened the gate and there was plenty of frost on the grass.

I kept thinking I had M&H Racemaster slicks. I bought them right after the June race and forgot what they where. Obviously M/T ET Drag slicks.

A Blue '67 parked next to me and it turns out he joined the club last March, about the time he bought Stan's TH 400 !! He lives in Elk River and has only attended one meeting. I told him to NOT miss the Bowtie Brunch. He works for Barton Sand and Gravel and has been really busy this simmer but has winters off like me, so he is going to try to make Karl's shindig.

This guy parked a few spots downm from me and I HAD to get a couple pics for Bryan.

This was the mob scene by 10:30. Staging lanes were backed up into the pit area !!

No.........I left at 11:00. Hope they didn't get hurt. There were a LOT of sport compact cars there and some of them were fast.

apparently he was injured but alert.. the car was an old pro stock colt with a small block.. reports are that he got on the brakes a little hard in the shutdown area and the car veered and rolled.. reports also say he maybe had a broken arm... None of this other than the accident itself verified.
