4/ 7 swap cam

Finally found out why my car is not up to par, Had convertor redone and got off line better but still only running low 9's, Talked to convertor place and he asked me if it had a 4/7 swap cam and I told him the cam on comp cam said it was but when I called the dyno guy he told me it did not. Went over friday and pulled valve cover and it has a 4/7 swap cam. You would think it would misfire , but I would have never known, Was spaying 250 shot at brainerd and ever missed a beat, Not bad for a 6 cylinder, switched wires on saturday and it seems alot more responsive, Hopefully I can get the second that i was looking for. unbelievable, maybe going to the rock on saturday, may be the last nice weekend.clonk,Weighed car at brainerd and it was 2570 without me.

Wow, that's crazy that it ran 9's on 6 cylinders !! I'm hoping to go to the rock on Oct 2nd for the last Muscle Car race day.

hat is a good one you litteraly were not running on all 8. I would love a 6 cylinder that runs 9s. Let us know how this sat goes. Theoretically u should have 25% more power now. Are you going to the Rock Oct 2nd ?

Problem solved. First pass it pulled the wheels and ran a 8.59, 1.25 60ft on engine. 1.4 seconds fasted then last time, Sprayed a light shot and ran a 8.40 at 160mph. What a ride. may have to think about using the parachute, it took the whole back end to stop.

Steve that is great. What a rush to go that fast. Were you at Rock Falls ? There is no room to stop : ) Especially with your rocket.

Since it was the dyno shop that had the wires wrong, I'm wondering if it could benefit from retuning the carb and timing, now that it runs on all 8. Maybe a winter project, eh

I'm hoping to be there next Sunday. I'd like to see that rocket blast off and break into the 7's...nana

Steve, I went back and found your original post when you had the engine dyno'd.

"If 997hp and 810 ft lbs dont work the 250 shot may help. Trying to get car certified for 7.50."

Was that dyno'd with the wires reversed?

Sounds like you had a heck of a ride now that it's running right!!!!  notworthy

no , they were on correct on the dyno, I took them off when I put it in the car. I noticed on the cam card it sayed it was a 4/7 swap. I called him and he sayed it was not. never thought much of it because it never misfired or gave me any indication of it being backwards, the guy at the convertor place I had my convertor redone from out of the blue asked me if it had a 4/7 swap cam. told him it would run bad and he sayed he seen for his own eyes it does not, thats what made me go over to my trailer and pull a valve cover and found that out. then I called the dyno guy and confronted him about it. first he sayed he told me and then i reminded him I called him and asked him about it and He told me no. After that he said fuk me and new he screwed up. he is going to let me redyno this winter so I can try some spacer plates and shear plates that we did not have the first time..
