Front tire selection help 72 Chevelle
Permalink

Last night got a flat tire on Hwy 52 going to Scout Pack meeting with son. We did not make it : (

Need help finding a good front tires and not finding the current size I have on the car. It currently has 195 70 R15. they are about 26" tall and 7.75" wide

The rears are 275 60 R15 BFG Drag radials They are about 28" tall

want to get something close to what I had as I like the looks

205 70 R15 are the closest things I can find, but there may be others out there that will better. Not sure what to get in size OR brand. Any opinions on size and make model tire you think would work and look good ?

Would like to keep them skinny

205/70R15 is going to be your best bet. It's only .4" wider, .22" less diameter, plus there's a good selection. Here's what I used to find that info out:

Tire rack still list 4 in that size, but going to a 205/70/15 would give you more selection

Talk to "Pushrod" if you're looking for "pizza cutters"... he's doing a wheel/tire swap this winter and has some NICE rubber (and Weld's) that'll be available.

I have 215x65x15's and they are almost the same diameter as what you had. They would be a little wider. The tires are Firestone Indy 500 and I really like the traction compared to other brands I've run.

I have a couple of 225 75 15 tires that are brand new if you are interested at all. Always in the mood for swapping and Mitch has been waiting for me to peel these tires off so he can get the ralley wheels from me.

So Pushrod... does this mean your slicks are for sale or are you keeping them?  You know I'm going to need a set for the club drag race next year in order to keep up with you!!!  gearbangergearbanger

Thank you all. I am all set for tires for now. Ended up getting a whole new/used set of M/T skinny fronts and 275/60 15 rears.
