I started getting the fuel system upgrades in place today. Had to order some stuff from Jeg's but got the new carb installed and hooked up. It works great- it's SO nice to have a functioning choke again. What a luxury...

The upgrades will include the Holley 750 Ultra Double Pumper, Holley mechanical fuel pump, Wilson nitrous plate, and (eventually) Doug's Tri-Y headers and a wideband oxygen sensor.

I'm planning to have all of this done by Car Craft. We'll see...

Does this mean you're not going to the Heidt's Performance Car Challenge?

You signed up for RSE yet? :)

It'll be done before Heidts, too.

I was planning on signing up for RSE at the event. Is it easier to do so beforehand?

When I signed up for it last year, the guys in the trailer didn't know you could sign up later... They had to make some calls to get it done. It might be too late to register for it now though without having Jeff Smith vouch for you though. I'm sure you'll be able get in either way though, just more hassle to wait.

I tried to pre-register. This is the message I got online:

"Sorry, Pre-Registration is closed for this event. Late registration is still available at the event. Please see the show schedule for times."

So, there's that. I'll make it work anyway. That's pretty far out for pre-registration to be closed I think. But, I'm not running the deal either.

If the car-count for RSE is low again and/or Jeff wants you to be in it, you won't have any problems. thumbsup

I was thinking you might know the right guys, and since your car is what they're looking for when it comes article time..... well, you know how that works.

They opened up registration again today. I signed up right away. I know I could get in based on who I know, but if I can do so the way everyone else does it, I'll feel better about it.

My pal Jeff Schwartz just finished up a Chevy II. He's at Columbus with it now chasing the Street Machine of the Year title. If I know him, he'll bring it here for RSE next.

I'll do my best no matter what. I just hope I do okay.

I have to get my licks in while I can. Derek will have his car done by next year and he'll wipe the place up with me for sure. I need to do well while he's taking a year off. I used to have a horsepower advantage on him but that new 383 LS of his will make some real sauce, and he can drive a lot better than I can. His car weighs less and has better tires, too. This is the only chance I've got!

Apparently some woman (the girlfriend?) was racing it at Great Lakes and being used to rowing a 5 speed she pulled back on the cheapo B&M shifter and downshifted the Turbo 350 causing it to spin and hit the guardrail. she suffered a broken bone in her foot.

More pics and Jeff chimes in later in This thread.

That really sucks. From the looks of the pictures in that thread. It does look like a guy could fix it. But its probably not worth it to try.

holy crap! That car was pretty cool. Glad no one was hurt too bad. Thats not the car i thought Jeff was bringing this year, though.

Bottle is mounted, new fuel pump is in, and final bits of plumbing and wiring are all that's left. We'll finish most of that up tomorrow, and I'll get it all dialed in before Friday. I've got a road course/autocross event in Joliet starting on Friday and continuing through Sunday.

http://heidtsperformancecarchallenge.com/2011_PerformanceCarChallenge/info.asp

Then Car Craft the week after. Busy month!!
