Since everyone had so much fun and some were not able to go perhaps we could run again later in the season. I see at Rock Falls they have muscle car race days Sunday, July 10; Sunday, August 7 and Sunday, October 2. Perhaps as a club we could plan to run again on October 2nd. I do understand if the wheather is nice the place is suppose to be packed. I think we lucked out.
***************Any thoughts ????

Looks like a good time, I would be up for a trip over later in the year when I have the bugs worked out of my car.

Personally, I'd prefer Sunday, July 10th.  It's sooner than I'd like to go again ($$$ for the day), but the first weekend in Oct. will either be a Fall colors trip for the wife, or we are thinking that could be a club Fall cruise day too.

July 10th is also the weekend before Car Craft, and I'm already being accused of scheduling a 'car thing' every weekend the way it is now, so that may not be good timing because CC takes a priority.

I looked at the other dates for bracket racing, but the entry is $69 instead of $40 for muscle car dates.

Obviously, if anyone wants to go, don't wait for an official club 'event', but be sure to put it on the forum in case anyone wants in.

The cheaper entry fee would almost cover your gas just to go to Cedar Falls instead... It's $20 to race there, and they have WAY better track prep. I consistently 60' almost 0.200 better at Cedar Falls on my street tires.

there is a gimick to the 69 bucks at the rock i think that price is for the weekend and you get so much back if you just stay sat.

I'm not sure about July 10th but it might work. I'm not concerned about CC, as I don't go to that. The August date may work OK but as Stan said, the October date will be during a busy time of the year.

I'm going to look at a pair of MT slicks tonight, so I may have traction next time. I'd REALLY like to have the Chevelle there instead but progress is at a snails pace now.

You got that back together quick Frank. It must have been real fun trying to get the welder in there with the engine still in place. Are you running solid motor mounts?

Ill be making another trip down to Rockfalls Raceway before The "Night of fire" event@ Cedarfalls on July 23rd.. ( if someone really wants to bracket race and have fun.. this is the ticket!)

Looks like another Musclecar day Sunday July 10th and a test-n-tune July 16th and Sunday Bracket day on July 17th

I don't go very often, usually once or twice a year on a Saturday... I've always gotten at least 6 runs in, but I spend a lot of time BSing with people and all I care about is getting one good timeslip. Once I get one good run in I don't try too hard to get more runs in.

Now that I'm swapping to a stick and doubling my horsepower, I might have to try a lot harder to get that one good run though. ;)

Ya- the eternal quest for the perfect launch with the clutch makes it more fun- especially on the street tires. You've got adjustments, so you want to adjust them and see what happens. Of course you want to play with tire pressure. Maybe bump a degree of total timing or two if you've got good gas (or get some at the track).

And then you have give the brackets a try. I mean...come on. It's like a race and a game all in one. The tires are still the weak point, so they should spin before anything gets too stressed. It'll pull to 6,500 easy enough....so let the shift light be your guide and know the T56 with a good shifter is easy to hit the gates with. The hydraulic clutch should only require a quick tap between gears- not quite a full-on powershift, but real close.

When it all works just right, and you become part of the machine for a few seconds, and you keep going faster on every pass...

...well, ya- it's better.

Really Frank? I love playing the brackets. It's a chance to make a few more back-to-back passes and have some fun, and who knows? You might just win.
